Broken GlassThe large SUV in which Olivia suffered a long uncomfortable silence came to an absolute stop.
Olivia quickly climbed down the monster vehicle along with the sisters. And once she managed to drag her duffel bags down the car and reposition Mr. Fluffington to a more comfortable position in her arms, Olivia looked up to where they were.
The Konstantinos mansion was large and looming.
From the outside, it looked more like a castle with its medieval inspired wall trims and other quirks. It was painted a dull crème and highlighted with brown wooden pergola structures near the entrance and balcony. But what struck Olivia was how inhospitable it looked. It was a pretty building that could be a museum or an office building but it lacked the warmth of home.
Noticing Stygere waiting for her a feet away, Olivia snapped out of her judgmental trance and started moving towards her.
'It's a pretty place.' Olivia complemented lightly as they walked towards the wooden double-door entrance. 'It reminds me of those castles in history books.'
'And that was exactly what Master wanted.' Stygere replied while opening a pod near the door and punching a password to the keypad.
'Master?'
Olivia asked, confused and shocked in equal measures at her address. Stygere turned to look at Olivia's surprise and snickered.
'It is what the rest of us addresses them as; more Master Keres than Lord Thànatos really. He is our Master, per say and a lot of us sisters stick to the traditional route.' The door hissed open and Stygere led Olivia in. 'Anaplekte, well, she was the first among us. She shares a more friendly relationship with him... marginally.' She added with an afterthought.
Olivia didn't get much time to process the information as they entered into a huge hall designed in crème with brown and black undertone. The hall was empty with a large chandelier hanging off the high ceiling and the luxurious furnishing looked unused. Olivia's sneakers made squeaky sounds on the well-polished marble.
'Where is Anaplekte?'
Olivia asked while struggling to catch up with Stygere who started climbing a wide staircase at the center position of the hall. Olivia was slightly unnerved at the echo of her question ringing back to her ears.
'She tends to leave everyone hanging. So, don't be bothered by her irregular appearance and disappearance.'
Olivia nodded and continued to heave her bags and an obese cat after Stygere's frame who was seemingly accustomed with the dull lighting which the twins preferred.
'You gotta lose some fat, Mr. Fluffington.' She panted to the white cat in her arms once she reached the top of the stairs. 'You are really heavy, you know. It is not something I can cope up with, especially now that we are homeless.'
