Limbus partum, or "The Limbo of Patriarchs" was a sensational philosophy in early stages of humanity that later made into timeless works of art like Dante's Inferno as "The Purgatory." The simplicity of the idea was what made it thrilling; the imaginary land that came out curiosity and creativity from a large mass of mortals that kept wondering what would come upon their fate after their death.

And as the God of Death himself, Keres knew a thing or two about Limbo.

But the Limbo he knew was not the magical meadow where the apostle lounged or the high-rise mountain that mortals climb to be blessed by angels and taken to paradise to be with their Lord.

It was just wastelands as far as the eyes could see, filled with hungry monsters and manipulative creatures that were neither allowed in Olympus or Earth or even Underworld. It was a pit stop for all things illegal in all the other realms and this absence of laws allowed it to flourish as a bazaar for anyone seeking asylum.

In other words, it was a mecca for criminals and all things criminal. And that was the reason why Keres and Thànatos were sure that Makelo would have brought Olivia to this very realm.

Limbo was going to be the middle ground; the realm where neither the Dark Clan nor the Olympians could gain the upper hand.

But the Purgatory had not always been the deserted realm it was now.

Over a thousand years ago, Limbo had been united under the likes of a Titan named Kreios who joined the Northern and Southern kingdoms to a united front. It had been Zeus' nightmare to see a kingdom rise under one ruler that was not him, definitely someone of Titan ancestry who haven't pledged their allegiance to him.

And one day as if Khaos had listened to Zeus' prayers, Emperor Kreios vanished without a trace.

His essence was never scattered in the Cosmos but seemingly without a reason, he had left Limbo; leaving the leaders of the North and South to revert back to war.

A war that ended with Limbo being the wasteland it now was.

When the Centaurs in the South poisoned the rivers and vegetation, the demons of the North chose to build a labyrinth only they could navigate to deter the Centaurs. Groups of assassins and black market traders sprung up like mushrooms after a rain after the collapse of a sovereign rule, aiding the wartime destruction. Eventually, most creatures on both sides started migrating away from Limbo to other realms like Earth; leaving the worst of the worst to thrive in the darkened and charred realm.

'The holds have been broken, Master.' The reaper named Zeke bowed low to Thànatos and Keres.

'What of the explosion?' Thànatos asked his subordinate as he summoned his Scythe. 'Any sources found?'
