CHAPTER ONE

"Now Little Girl, now you won't have to worry about all those silly things you hate. Let yourself go." My father whispered to me as he held the knife against my throat. He looked at me a final time, years of sick disgust burning from his cold eyes into my own, full of years of self hatred, and hatred towards my parents. My mother hovered behind him, clearly wanting him to finish the job. I didn't bother to struggle at this point- I knew it wasn't worth it.

It was as he began to slowly, almost softly, slice into my neck that my life began flashing before my eyes. Starting with my happy memories of riding ponies as a child, things gradually got darker and foggier. Not just the real world, but my memories as well. The were stained by the dark shadows of my depression, the blood of the thousand cuts I gave myself, the haze of all the painkillers. But they were loud. So atrociously loud. The screaming of my parents, the sounds of things smashing.

It was one memory that kept coming back into my mind. Over and over, a repetitive cycle. Walking after dark, in a New York City park. Someone had just killed the DJ. Everyone was held long into the night for questioning, and as I was walking home after being released, all I could see in the midnight hour was the vivid image of the DJ being shot.

The death of the DJ quickly fled what was left of my foggy mind as I a heard a bang. The sawing on my throat istantly became rough, quick, messy. My mother and father being yanked back from me was the last thing I saw before my head hit the floor with a thud and I blacked out.
