Poem #23 : Illusion

38 5 3

When in the darkness she's alone,

When all her feelings are gone,

When she's numb to the pain,

No tears leave her eyes even in the rain

That's when she smiles.

It's not a joyous eye-reaching smile

That's when she snaps,

That's when her demons fill her gaps--

In her soul

In her heart's hole.

She becomes what she fears

She then covers her ears

and gives a blood-curdling scream

To wake up from this never ending dream.

It's not a nightmare

For it's an illusion she can bear--

easily, even happily, she longs for this

This sad-happy bliss.

It's a dream...

She likes her horror screams.

She seeks solace in her sorrows

She survives with little happiness she borrows,

She lives in hope for a better tomorrow...
