Chapter 30

"Honey it's okay. Just relax" my mom soothes as she rubs circles on my back.

Once the reality of what just happened sunk in I started having a panic attack. My heart started beating out of my chest and my hands had gotten clammy, my vision was blurry and I was trying my hardest to focus on my moms words.

Dad had chased after Logan when he stormed off and mom stayed with me when she saw my state of well-being. Josh gave me space and went back over to the tree, he had been pacing in front of it while running his hand through his hair.

I really didn't want anyone to find out that way, especially not Josh. Isn't it supposed to be romantic when you tell someone you love them? Not in the middle of a screaming match with your brother at your grandmothers funeral.

Story of my life. Nothing went right.

My phone was buzzing with a call but I couldn't answer it. My mom pulled to phone out of my pocket in my dress and answered it.

"Hello?"

She was silent for awhile before she held the phone to her chest.

"Honey are you ok to talk on the phone? It's Thalia."

I take a deep breath and straighten my stance before grabbing the phone from my mom.

"Tali?" I say with a breath

"H-hey" she sniffles

I felt so bad. It was my fault Logan said all those things.

"How are you?"

A sniffle answers me.

"I'm sorry that was a stupid question. Where did you go?"

"I'm I-in the bathroom" she hiccups.

"I'll be there in a minute"

I hang up the phone and shove it back in my pocket before turning to my mom.

"I need to check on her, I feel so bad"

"Honey you didn't force Logan to say that. He was being spiteful and as much as I love him, an ass. He hurt her feelings really bad and maybe this'll teach him to think before he speaks."

I nod at my mom before glancing at Josh. I was terrified that I had scared him off with my confession. I couldn't help but wonder if it was even true. I have never had a boyfriend let alone been in love before so how did I even know?

"Go take care of Thalia, I'll make sure he sticks around" my mom says to me.

I nod at her and take one last look at him before heading towards the bathroom. The walk wasn't very far but by time I got there a wave of tiredness had come over me.

I push the bathroom door open and twist the lock on the door when I hear Thalia sniffling.

"Tali?"

She opens the far stall door and comes out to join me. I instantly wrap her in a hug.

"I'm so sorry Tali. It's all my fault" I whisper

She pulls away and sits on the bench.

"No it's not. He's the one that said it."

"I shouldn't have made you keep it a secret. I'm a horrible friend." I tell her taking a seat next to her.

She lays her head on my shoulder and sniffs again before wiping her puffy red eyes.

"What happened after I left?"
