Chapter 39
"Im just gonna warn you now." Josh says taking my hand.
We had arrived at his moms house for the party. Josh was nervous about being here after not seeing her for so many years.
"Okay about what?"
"My mom is a character. She can be really loud and she's very outgoing. And Kianna is very affectionate or at least she was." He says as his expression changes.
"I'm going to love them Josh."
"Hopefully not more than me though right?" He jokes
"I guess it depends"
He raises a eyebrow inquisitively.
"Oh really? On what?"
"I haven't decided yet"
Josh and I share a laugh as we step inside the beautiful two story house. The brick exterior was something to be admired, but inside was stunning. It was the perfect mix between modern and retro. It's an odd combination but whoever designed this place made it work.
Josh stops me as soon as we step inside and pulls me up the stairs. He releases my hand and leans against the wall.
"Hey it's going to be fine." I reassure him
"I know I just- it's been so long and I hope she's not mad at me for not coming to visit."
"It's not like you had much of a choice. I'm sure she knows that you wanted to come see her."
Josh takes a deep breath and stands up straight.
"Do I look ok? I mean I want to impress my mom and Ron."
I take the chance to admire him yet again. Seeing Josh Elroy dressed up was more dangerous than seeing him shirtless. He had on a pair of black slacks that he paired with a maroon button up shirt. The sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, exposing his forearms. And he had a skinny black tie on.
"You look great Josh."
He smiles at me and kisses me. The kiss was quick and sweet but I loved it.
"You look beautiful. I'm glad you agreed to match me."
A fiery blush stained my cheeks.
Josh had asked me wear a matching dress so that everyone would know we were together. I figured it'd be kinda obvious considering we were all over each other.
My dress was the same shade as his shirt and it went to my mid thigh. The top half was snug and had three quarter lace sleeves with a straight neckline. I paired it with my favorite pair of black wedges and a simple makeup look and a braid.
"You ready to meet my mom?" He asks
"More than ready"
He smiles at me and laces our fingers together again before he leads me down the stairs.
We start in the kitchen and talk to a bunch of his moms friends and Ron's family before moving outside. We don't even make it to the grass before a young girl screams and runs up to us.
"Josh!" She says wrapping her arms around him.
"Ki you've gotten so big!"
Kiana giggles and pulls away from Josh.
"Come on Josh I have to show you my puppy!"
"I'll see your puppy later. Where's mom?"
Kiana points across the yard to a beautiful blonde woman. She was wearing a teal dress and her wrists and neck was adorned with pearls.
