Chapter 34
Kelly
I never could have thought I would be here right now. My wrists were sore from the cuffs and the small holding cell I was in was starting to get really cramped. I was alone and scared about what was going to happen to me. I was terrified that Logan wouldn't pull through.
My one phone call that I was allowed after two hours of interrogation were to my parents. They were with grandpa in the city helping clean out the house and all of grandma's stuff. After I explained what happened they jumped in the car and were on their way to come get me. I still needed to wait another hour.
I assumed they would go see Logan first and check on him before coming to get me. After all I was the one in the jail cell.
My eyes burned with unshed tears as the image of Logan's busted face was stuck in my head. I never knew Josh could be that violent. I don't even know why he was at the house.
Thalia was at the hospital with Logan and she hadn't even tried to check up on me. I knew it was a selfish thought because I knew he needed her.
The officer that had attended to me; Officer Rivers, was sitting at her desk right outside my cell. She kept glancing at me and giving me pity looks. I hated it. I hated pity. I didn't need it.
"Officer Rivers?"
"Yes miss Willis?"
"Can I use the bathroom?"
Officer Rivers nods her head and grabs a set of keys from her desk. She stands and makes her way over to me before unlocking my cell. She grips my bicep and leads me towards the bathroom.
I was so embarrassed. Everyone's eyes were on me as she led me through the station. We passed by different holding cells, one with a few people that were drugged up, a cell with an older guy that wolf whistled at me as I passed by, and Josh's.
I peek into his cell and see him leaning his head back against the concrete wall behind him as a balding officer sits across from him with a notepad in his hand.
"Who took the first swing?" The Officer asks him.
"Logan"
"And you retaliated?"
"Not at first. He shoved me a few times and then swung at me. I punched him in the nose and he hit me again and that's when I lost it."
"What were you doing at the Willis residence?"
Josh takes a deep breath and drops his head into his hands.
"It's complicated" he mumbles
I didn't get to hear anymore because Officer Rivers pulled me away.
"Make it quick" she says as we reach the restroom
I rush inside and quickly do my business before washing my hands and studying myself in the mirror. My eyes widen in horror as I see my reflection. My eyes were puffy and bloodshot and my hair was matted to my face.
I grab a hair tie off my wrist and tie my hair up into a messy bun and grab some paper towels, run them under cold water and ring them out before dabbing at my eyes.
Once I look at least somewhat decent I leave the restroom and Officer Rivers leads me back towards my cell.
As I pass by Josh's cell again I catch more of his conversation.
"How long were you in a relationship with miss Willis?"
"I'd known her for two months, but I'd say maybe a month of us being together."
