16 - Reunited

I had my eyes squeezed shut. I was bracing myself for impact... but I never hit the ground. I was caught instead. I opened my eyes to see a police officer smiling at me. I smiled back and he sat me down then went into the house to arrest my biological father. I looked around and saw him. Jack.

"DAD!" I yelled as I started running to him.

He looked over at me and opened his arms. He hugged me tightly.

"I'm sorry." We both said at the same time.

We laughed.

I hugged him again and he put me in the car to take me home.

"I missed you," I said.

"I missed you more." He replied.

"You didn't take your phone." He said.

"I know, I'm sorry," I said.

"It's okay, but I think someone wants to talk to you." He said.

He handed me my phone and almost as if it were on cue, Tyson called.

"Hey," I said.

"Thank god you're alive!" He said.

"Yeah... it's good to hear your voice again." I said.

"Right back at ya."

"I wanna see you." 

"I wanna see you too."

"Dad, can Tyson come over?" I asked.

"Sure, it's time to celebrate." He said.

"I'll send you my address, get to my house as soon as you can." 

"Will do." With that, he hung up.

When we got home, I went to my room, took a shower, and changed my clothes. It felt good. I then noticed a pile of presents on my bed.

"You missed Christmas and New Years Eve. These are all of your gifts." Jack said while standing in my doorway.

"Thank you," I said.

"No problem.

"Wait," I said, "How long was I gone?" I asked.

"About two months," Jack started, "But I never gave up." I hugged him.

"I'll open them later," I said.

"Good idea."

"What day is it?"

"February 10th," Someone said.

"Tyson!" I exclaimed while running up and giving him a hug.

He hugged back. The rest of the day, all three us had fun together until Tyson had to go home.

(Time Skip)

"Bye Mark, love you!" I said.

He shut the door after waving and saying goodbye.

"That's everyone," I said out loud.

All of Sean and I's friends had come to visit since I was home. Against everyone's advice, I also started going back to school. I had no problem with anyone. It was amazing. Just then, my phone rang and broke me out of my train of thought. It was Tyson.

"Hey," I said.

"Um... hey." He replied.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I was uh... I was wondering if you... if you would like t-to go to the Valentine's Day Dance with... with m-me?" He asked.

"Y-Yes." I stuttered out.

"See you then." He said.

"See you then," I replied.

"Fuck," I said out loud.
