Free Spirit (Khalid Song Scenarios)

A/N: Before we get started, this may eventually be a collab! Will post if that becomes the case! Each member is paired with a song from Khalid's "Free Spirit" album. Had to do something with this album because it's one of the best of 2019. Hope y'all enjoy!

Warning: the Jungkook version contains references to and centers heavily around teen pregnancy and pregnancy in general. I understand these are sensitive topics and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have in advance of reading it. I do not wish to romanticize nor shame teen pregnancy, simply acknowledge that it is prevalent in our society. While most (if not all) teen mothers love their children and can/do live fulfilling lives, it is hard and often an uneven consequence for what is often a mistake, ignorant, or non-consensual action. You and Jin broke up at the top of a Ferris wheel during the summer between your Junior and Senior years of college. The sun beating on the backs of your necks and your legs sticking to the smooth plastic of the feet.

"We're going very different directions," you said. "I think it might be best if we just embrace that."

"All right," Jin said. "That's understandable."

There was no fight where you both exploded like the fireworks you watched that night. No tears where one of you begged the other to stay. You simply continued the date, but instead of holding hands or Jin sneaking his hand into your belt loops you just existed together. You shared cotton candy and played carnival games together, you just weren't together anymore.

You spent the rest of college occasionally running into each other at parties and on campus. Sometimes he'd give you a small smile, sometimes he'd pretend not to notice you, but never in a way that made you feel slighted.

You never forgot about the way your relationship with Jin ended just like turning off a light switch. When he graduated and left--the year before you did the same--you wondered what would've happened if you'd stayed together. Would you have gone long distance? Would your relationship have lasted through that?
