two years ago

Two days away from turning eighteen, you put on a short skirt, red lipstick, and piled your hair into a messy, yet, poised hairdo. It was the infamous senior party held by one popular senior every year.

This year it was held by Park Jimin. Jimin's older brother threw it when he graduated it, and Jimin followed suit.

Jimin was Jiseok's best friend. Despite that, you barely knew the boy, Jiseok didn't like it when you hung around his friends. Although, that night was obviously an exception as around 200 new or soon-to-be-adults all gathered at the Park abode.

The party was already in full swing when Jimin pulled up. The music thumping against your chest as you got out of the car. You waved at your classmates and took Jimin's hand as you entered the party.

"Hey Jiseok!" His friends said, giving him a handshake. They pretty much ignored you beyond a possible acknowledging glance.

"I'm going to go get a drink," you said, walking over to the table where a bunch of different alcohols were placed. You didn't have much experience with alcohol, so you grabbed two colorful cans and brought one back to Jiseok while you cracked open the other.

The party itself went by quickly, even though Jiseok ignored you for most of it. You began to feel like a burden and you eventually wandered off by yourself.

You ended up on a balcony where you overlooked the moonlit city. No one else had yet to discover the balcony, it seemed to be the one place untouched by the party.

"Y'N," a voice behind you said. You turned to find one of your classmates. She met your eyes and you could tell something was wrong immediately.

"Jiseok is really drunk," she said. "He's starting to yell and he's already broken a few glasses. You have to take him home."

It didn't take you long to track him down. When you re-entered the party, you followed the sound of a crowd and found Jiseok in the middle, shotgunning another beer before crumpling it and tossing it to the ground.

He let out a scream and reached for another beer, but you caught his wrist before he wrap his fingers around it.

"That's enough," you said. "We should go home."

Jiseok gave you a dissatisfied look, although it was overlayed with a bitter anger.

"I'm not ready to go home, babe," he said, reaching for the other beer and cracking it open.

"How many drinks have you had?"

"Dunno, lost count."

You sighed and the crowd began to disperse, no longer caring for the scene. He continued to drink and you could see the way he swayed as he walked towards the living room.

"Jiseok, you're too drunk," she said. "Let's call a taxi and go home. Or, let's find Jimin and see if you can stay here."

"Are you not enjoying yourself, babe? Do you want to go home?" His hand came down to cup your ass and he left a sloppy kiss against your jawline. It smelled like beer and whiskey.

"How can I enjoy myself?" you asked, your voice gaining momentum. "You've basically ignored me this whole time and now you're completely drunk off your ass."

"Well, I can't help it if you don't know how to have a good time."

You rolled your eyes and took the beer from Jiseok's hand reached down to fish for the car keys in his pocket. You'd had a few drinks as well, not trusting yourself to drive either.

"Come on, let's call a cab and go home. The party is ending soon anyway."

"I don't wanna go home," he said, his words slurring more as he became more frustrated. "You're no fun. I should find a girlfriend who's more fun."

Your heart broke. You knew Jiseok wanted more from you. Every time you asked him to take you home or told him you weren't ready when his hand slipped under your shirt, you'd feel the frustration strip off him like layers from an onion.

"Unless you finally wanna put out, babe. Then, I'll take you home."

You grunted in frustration and pulled out your phone, googling the city cab company. You were about to hit "Call" when the phone was knocked from your hands.

"What the fuck, Jiseok?!"

"I'll take you home," he said, swiping the keys from you while you were distracted and picked up your phone. The screen was black and shattered. You held the power button, but it didn't light back up with life.

"You can't drive," you said. "You're too drunk. I won't ride with you."

"Then, you're not getting home, babe. Everyone here is drunk. You would be having more fun if you were too."

"Jiseok, please just call us a cab."

He ignored you and walked towards his car. You followed, the alcohol making your resolve fade and your eyelids droop.

Giving up, you climbed into the passenger seat. It felt like all the blood in your veins was electrified as he twisted the key and started the engine.

The drive started out all right as Jiseok turned out onto the road. He came close to the cars parked on the side of the road, but otherwise he kept it straight.

"Maybe this won't be so bad after all," you thought, your hand still gripped the door. You approached a red light and you didn't feel him put on the breaks. Your mind immediately changed.

"Jiseok! It's red! Stop!"

Horns sounded as he ran through the light and braked in reaction to your pleas.

"What the fuck, Y/N?! Stop distracting me!"

"Jiseok, this isn't a good idea. Please pull over and call a cab or someone. Please." Tears pricked at your eyes and you considered getting out and just walking home, even though it was still a few miles.

"Just shut up," he said. "You're overreacting. You should be thankful I'm taking you home." Just as he finished his sentence, the car began to drift into the other lane and he pulled it back.

Your heart thumped in your chest. You prayed to any god that would listen, crossed your fingers, and tried to think of anything else that would give you luck.

The car began to drift into the oncoming lane again. This time he didn't pull back.

You yelled. You don't remember what. You reached for the wheel as your heard the other car's horn sound. It was too late.

Your vision blacked out and you heard the crunching of metal. When the dust settled, you only heard your own cries. Everything else was silent.

"Y/N."

You heard the sirens in the distance. People had gathered around and your felt Jiseok move beside you. One of the bystanders yelled for an ambulance. It sounded distant. Near the other car.

"Y/N."

Jiseok got out of the car. You tried to move, but your body felt frozen in place. You didn't feel any pain, but you knew it was there.

"Y/N."

Someone said they were dead. The other people were dead.

You sat up in bed. Your tank top clung to you because your body was covered in sweat. It felt like you couldn't breath and you managed a few shaky breaths before you realized someone was in the room.

"Y/N? Are you okay? What happened?" Jimin stood by your bed.

You shook your head and looked away. Curling into your own thoughts in the past, you felt tears on your cheeks. You pulled the covers over your head and tried to hide.
