tell me
Winona hurries down the dark street and towards the huge bonfire, her bright eyes alert and wide as she stares straight at Rune. The song Send my Love by Adele is playing loudly against the heat of the fire. Bodies are pressed together, sharing in the glorious moments of the happy and the tame. Rune is too busy chattering to a bunch of guys from Prelowey to even notice that Winona has made her way over to him. Taking a deep breath, she steps in front of his view, her arms crossed over her chest as she lets out an aggravated huff. He looks over at her with a huge grin, his teeth shining through.
"Win, hey! I thought you—"
"When were you going to tell me?" She cuts him off, holding her head up high. He sends her a confused look.
"Tell you what?" He asks, his voice soft. Some of the guys roll away from him, leaving him by himself. She shakes her head.
"The fact that you even have to ask me that shows me that you know exactly what I'm talking about," she snaps at him, her breathing starting to come out in short pants.
"Win, I seriously—"
"I trusted you," she tells him, "I had you're back because I thought you knew what you were doing, but you didn't. You don't, and you never did." He stares at her, his eyebrows furrowed, his lips tightly pressed against another. She jabs him in the chest. "Were you going to tell me that you sent her away?" His face flushes and his eyes widen.
"This is what we're celebrating! You got an invite, it's on your door. We were just getting ready to tell everyone. I wasn't hiding it from you, it was just a surprise," he tries to grab her hand but she pulls away. "What's wrong?"
"You're celebrating sending her away?" She asks, suddenly feeling her chest tighten. He nods his head. "Do you realize what you have done?"
"What do you mean?" The music starts to fall almost silent, only playing in the background quietly.
"Salem is an Earth Witch. You sent an Earth Witch away," she tells him.
"Okay, yeah?"
"Where does she get her powers from, Rune?" Her voice begins to shake.
"The Earth?"
"Exactly, the fucking Earth!"
"What are you saying?" He is still confused.
"Her duty was to heal. That's what her powers were for, since they come from the Earth. She can't cause pain or use curses because her body will not allow it. But you sent her away, taking them from her. You didn't take her powers away, you just took her Earth source away. You have cause a war."
