Y/n's POV

"Stiles, hey," I greet when I found him in our driveway at home working on his Jeep. "You need any help?"

"No. I'm fine," Stiles assured me.

"Really? It looks like the Jeep is leaking. A lot," I emphasize as I peaked under his car. "I know a little something about cars. I was just going to meet Theo, but he can wait a minute if you need some help."

"I'm okay," Stiles persisted, his eyes never meeting mine.

"Stiles if this is about me being in Theo's pack now I-"

"Everything ready out here?" Scott asked and exited the house, stopping in his tracks when he saw me. "Y/n, hi."

"Hey, Scott," I wave awkwardly and glance behind him. "Did you run into Liam in there?"

"Yeah," Scott breathed out. "But I don't have time to deal with him right now. Stiles and I need to go find Kira. I guess her mom took her somewhere in New Mexico so they could try and figure out what's wrong with her, but it's too dangerous."

"Oh. Well, I hope things go your way out there," I wish him and take my keys out of my pocket. "I'm off to see Theo, so I'll see you guys whenever you get back I guess. Stay safe."

............................................

"Holy shit. Did you see it?" I question and turn to look at Theo.

Theo shook its head. "It was too fast. But it's here, so keep your distance. We're not trying to catch it. Not yet."

"Come on," I urge and drag him towards the school. "Maybe we can still spot it."

"Look," Theo directed and nodded to the lockers, where a message was laid out in black, shadowy letters. "It's the same message."

"What are they trying to tell it?" I inquire.

"They're trying to get it to remember who it was," Theo responded.

I frowned. "But isn't it just a teenager like us? Isn't it just a kid underneath?"

"They don't care about that. The Doctors, they needed a body because they couldn't resurrect the Beast out of thin air. That kid underneath, whoever it is, just a side effect. All the Doctors care about is the Beast," Theo explained.

"So what happens if it does remember?" I push.

"I'm not sure," Theo replied. "The thing probably doesn't even know it turns back to human during the day."

"I read that the Beast of Gevaudan killed 113 people," I bring up. "Is that true?"

"No. The Doctors told me it was closer to 500," Theo put forth as a loud roar hit our ears. Theo took a hold of my hand and led me around the row of lockers, but we then bumped into the Dread Doctors. Something about them always made my skin tingle, and I took a step back on instinct.

"Leave," the front one demanded to Theo.

"Where is it?" Theo implored.

"You already have your pack," one of the doctors spoke.

"It wasn't enough. Look at my eyes. They look red to you? I'm not an Alpha. I'm not even a real werewolf," Theo spit at them.

Just then, the whole hallway began to shake. The lights above us flickered, but finally gave out, sending the whole school into darkness. From behind the Dread Doctors, I spotted the beast. It was a huge monster made of shadows with glowing white eyes. It towered well above the rest of us, and just seeing it made me want to run to the corner and cower in fear. Theo took a protective stance in front of me, and while it was somewhat comforting, it didn't help much. The lights shuddered once more as the beast roared, but when they went again, the creature was nowhere to be seen.

The next day, I went to school like normal. But it was weird, seeing people I used to know in the hallway, and feeling like I couldn't have a conversation with them. I saw Liam and Mason, but as soon as I waved and went to say hello, Liam was dragging Mason away. Maybe I had made the wrong decision by joining Theo's pack. Maybe I had made the wrong decision to date Theo. I was sitting in English class, my last class of the day, focusing on the fact that school was almost over.

"Has anyone seen Stiles Stilinski or Scott McCall?" the teacher quizzed and glanced over at me. "Y/n?"

"Huh?" I utter and look up.

"Your brother," the teacher brought up. "Where is he?"

"Sick," I lie, knowing that he was on a mission to save Kira.

"And Stiles? They can't both be sick on the same day," the teacher noted.

"Why not?" I counter. "They're best friends. They spend literally all of their free time together. If one is sick, so is the other."

"Lydia Martin wasn't in class today either," the teacher added.

"She won't be here for a while," I disclose. "Medical issues."

............................................

"Theo, hey. I wasn't expecting you to- holy shit, what happened to your face?" I exclaim and cup his cheeks so that I could examine his bloody nose.

"Malia," Theo answered. "I don't think she likes me."

"To be fair, I don't think she likes anyone," I joke and lead him up to my room. "Stay here. I'm gonna go grab the first aid kit."

"Y/n, I'm a werewolf," Theo reminded me. "I'll heal."

"That blood won't magically go away by itself," I retort and grab some tissues before dabbing them underneath his nose. "Man, she got you good."

"She also broke my arm," Theo informed me.

"Wow," I breathe out. "You should probably stay away from her then."

"Maybe," Theo agreed as I pulled away from him.

"There. All done. Your face looks as good as new," I tell him.

"Thanks," Theo said and pecked my lips.

"So, what are you doing over here? I don't remember making plans today," I put forth.

"I figured maybe we could spend some more time together. Watch a movie or something," Theo suggested. "Unless you can't handle me for that long."

"Theo Raeken, I think I can handle you for dinner and a movie," I claim. "What were you thinking? Pizza?"

"Pizza sounds great," Theo concurred.

"Cool. I'll pick out the movie while you call in the order," I state and start looking through my DVDs.
