Y/n's POV
"Hey," my mom, Melissa, greeted and stood at the entrance to my bedroom. "I'm working the late shift again tonight, but I'm taking Saturday off to see your first game."
"Thanks mom, but you really don't have to," I say and rub my eyes in an attempt to keep them open.
"You look like you haven't slept in days," Melissa noticed. "Is everything okay?"
"I'm always up late studying and perfecting my homework, and between practicing on lacrosse and working most days after school, there's not much time for sleep," I explain.
"Well, I think your homework is fine. It doesn't need perfecting. And you're already amazing at lacrosse, so you don't nee practice. Now, get some sleep," Melissa instructed and kissed the top of my head. "You need it."
........................................
"Hey baby," Leo spoke and greeted me with a kiss on the lips.
"Hey," I return and wrap my arms around his neck. "I've been missing you the last few days."
"I had a bad stomach bug. Everything's good," Leo assured me. "And I'm glad I'm back to see you play in tomorrow's big game. I know you're gonna do amazing." Just then, the bell rang signaling we had a few minutes before class was supposed to start. "Well, I've got to get to math class, but I'll see you later. I'll be rooting for you."
The next two days went by quickly, and before I knew it, it was time for our first lacrosse game. I put on my lacrosse jersey, the bright white number 5 standing out on my back against the maroon, before grabbing my lacrosse stick and helmet. When I got onto the field, I scanned the crowed, my eyes spotting my mom sitting in the stands along with Lydia, Allison, Sheriff Stilinski, and Leo. And when Leo's eyes met mine, he blew me a kiss.
"Where do you want me Coach?" I ask Coach Finstock.
"You're going to be an attacker along with Jackson and your brother," Coach Finstock informed me. "Score some points, get the crowd riled up. You know the drill."
"You got it, Coach," I chirp and put on my helmet. "I won't let you down."
I ran out onto the field and took my position in front of one of the opposing team's players, my eyes now focused on the game at hand. When the referee blew the whistle, I dodged the boy in front of me and ran towards the net with Jackson coming up close behind me.
"Up top!" Jackson shouted. I looked up just as the ball came soaring down towards me, and held out my stick to catch it. The ball landed perfectly in the net of my stick, and with one good flick, I threw the ball at the goal. The goalie moved his stick to catch the ball, but missed, and it went straight into the net. The crowd cheered as the scoreboard beeped showing that we had earned a point, making the score 1-0.
The next play was even better than the last. Jackson passed the ball to me, and I dodged a player from the opposing team before passing the ball back to him. He ran closer to the net, again passing the ball back to me. Just then, I noticed a player from the opposing team stand a few feet directly in front of me, his arms held out to stop me with his legs spread apart. And that's when an idea hit me. Right as I neared him, I slid under his legs, the ball still safely tucked into the netting of my stick. Without even getting up from the grass, I passed the ball back to Jackson who in turn scored us another point. Towards the end of the game, the score was 3-5, and we were losing. I was standing on the field waiting for the referee to blow his whistle when a player from the other team walked up to me.
"Hey sweet cheeks. How about you come over to my place after the game? I can show you a good time," the boy claimed.
"I actually have a boyfriend, so no thanks," I decline.
"Oh come on," the boy murmured. "I'm probably way better looking them him. And I can treat you right. Maybe in the locker room, you can give me a sneak peak at what I'm in for."
"How about I show you something now?" I tease, a playful edge to my voice. The boy smiled and inched closer, which was a big mistake. This kid had no idea what he was in for. As soon as he got close enough, I flicked the hilt of my lacrosse stick right between his legs, hitting him straight in the balls, and he groaned, dropping to the ground. Lacrosse players wore cups, but that didn't mean that getting hit wouldn't hurt. The referee blew his whistle to pause the game, and I took my helmet off to look down at the boy on the floor in front of me. "How's that for something?"
"McCall!" Coach yelled and waved me over to the sidelines. "What the hell was that?"
"He was being a perv, Coach. And as much as I love lacrosse, I can't stand a perv," I declare. "He deserved that."
"That's a 3 minute penalty. You won't be able to play the rest of the game," the referee disclosed. While I was mad about not being able to play the last 2 minutes of the game, I was happy because that boy got what he deserved. In the last 2 minutes of the game, Scott had some amazing plays, and got us the points we needed to win. As I stood up from my seat on the bench, I was wrapped in a hug from behind.
"You did amazing," Leo praised and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
"Well, you are my lucky charm," I tell my boyfriend. Leo smiled and leaned in to kiss me passionately, which made me even happier then I already was. When I pulled away from Leo's lips, he scooped me up onto his back, giving me a piggyback ride to the entrance of the girls locker room.
"I'll see you tomorrow, right?" Leo quizzed.
I nodded. "Definitely. I don't think I can go another day without seeing your face. Want to do dinner tomorrow night at our usual place?"
"I would love too," Leo responded. "I'll see you then. Bye, McCall."
I waved as Leo retreated from the school. "Bye, Highman."
