Y/n's POV
"Knock knock," Scott chirped and poked his head into my room. "Dude, why are you still in bed?"
"What are you talking about?" I question sleepily and rub my eyes.
"It's the first day of junior year, remember," Scott reminded me.
"Holy shit!" I curse and shoot out of bed. "Scott! Why didn't you get me up sooner?!"
"How is this my fault? I thought you'd already be awake. I mean, you are the more responsible twin," Scott pointed out.
"Yeah yeah yeah," I mutter and push him out of my doorway. "Now go away. I need to get ready."
A lot of things had changed over the past four months. For one, Isaac and I had been dating for that long. Things were good between us. Really good. However, we were sort of keeping our relationship a secret from everyone else. Not that we didn't want to tell them, but we didn't want anyone to freak out, and for the moment, we just wanted to keep the relationship private. Two, I worked a lot this summer and saved up enough to buy myself a used car. It wasn't anything special, but it was all mine. And three, I had been working on my abilities quite often, so I considered myself an expert when it came down to being a werewolf. I threw on on a black overall dress with a thin, white, long sleeved shirt along with my black combat boots, and once I ate a quick breakfast, I rushed out to my car to head to school. I met up with Lydia and Allison by the latter's locker to chat before class started.
"Ooh. Freshmen," Lydia murmured. "Tons and tons of fresh men."
"You mean fresh boys," Allison corrected. "Lydia, they're 14."
"Yeah, I'm gonna agree with Allison on this one. They're way too young," I concur.
"Some are more mature than others," Lydia countered.
"You know, it's okay to be single," Allison assured her. "Focus on yourself for a little while. Work on becoming a better person."
Lydia chuckled. "But Allison, you could have so much fun with a boy. Tell her, Y/n."
"Whoa whoa whoa. Lyds, I don't have a boyfriend," I lie.
"Mmm, yeah you do," Lydia disagreed. "I can tell. So who is it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," I fib and glance behind her. "But I know you don't want a boyfriend. You want a distraction. And I think I might have found you one. Look. Twins."
"Y/n, you smell worried," Scott told me as we were sitting next to each other in our first class, which was English. "What's wrong?"
"I haven't seen Isaac all day today, he's not responding to texts, and his phone keeps going straight to voicemail. I'm freaking out, Scott," I ramble. "What if something's wrong? What if he's hurt?"
"Hey. Calm down," Scott advised. "I'm sure everything's gonna be okay. He probably just overslept. But why are you worrying? It's not like he's your boyfriend or anything."
"No, I know. I just get this way sometimes," I say and hide the blush that had started to creep up my cheeks.
"The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds and the tranquil waterway, leading to the uttermost ends of the earth flowed somber under an overcast sky, seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness," a woman read off from her phone as she entered the room. "This is the last line to the first book we are going to read. It is also the last text you will receive in this class. Phones off, everyone."
"Ugh," I groan and shut off my phone. "Seriously. The one time I need it!"
About halfway into class, everyone was working on an individual assignment, but I couldn't focus. My foot was tapping against the floor, my fingers were drumming against my desk, and my eyes kept flickering towards the clock. At that moment, a man walked in and spoke to Ms. Blake, and seconds later, she pulled me out of the classroom.
