chapter 11

*3 days later*

I got ready around 5 Christian was already gonna and at the park but I was going to get picked up by Kristy soon. We were going to see the musical Lo got me tickets for. I put on a long white dress with a slit.

I put on some makeup and my necklace Austin got me and soon get her 'im here' text.
"Sup beautiful, " I say getting in the car.
"Right back at ya beautiful, " she pulls out of the parking spot and turns the radio up then right back down.
"After this, I need to talk to you, it's really important, " I furrow my brows and tap my fingers on my knee. Kristy never held back anything she told me everything before she even knew it was 100%.
"Of course, " We find a parking spot at the theater. Christians apartment was so close to town I loved it took 5 minutes to get everywhere. We present our tickets to the woman in the front booth and walk-in finding our seats 5 rows from the front. I loved musicals I was always so happy when in school there was one I would have been a total theater kid but sadly I couldn't hold a note to save my life. The musical was absolutely amazing, but all night I couldn't help but think what the hell did she want to ask. Walking out I could feel my handshake and they didn't stop even after a few deep breaths.
"Ok lay it on me please, " She takes a deep breath and grabs my hand.
"So, uh Alex use to work for the golden state warriors doing media, pretty much for media in California." I nod my head try to figure where this is going before it's even got there. "And I wasn't on board at first then he convinced me but we uh. We sent a bunch of videos of you and paperwork and information for you to the golden state warriors."
"YOU DID WHAT?"
"Don't be mad please but they were hiring a new Broadcast and Digital Features Content Director and he knew you would be perfect." she fidgets in her seat taking a deep breath.
"They want you, you got the job. You leave in September."
"Holy shit, I'm gonna be working for the warriors, "
"Wait so you'll do it, "
"YES ILL DO IT, " I smile hugging her then soon letting that fade. "Christian, "
"Oh yeah, can't you do long distance."
"You know I can't do long distance, " I rub my forehead and groan. "No, I can we can he'll be in California during the offseason and we can call and talk all the time. We can do it, " I say sitting up straight too much confidence.
"Hell yeah, you can, "
"I love you, I'm kinda mad you did it without my permission but I'm happy you did, "

I stand in front of the door for a second wondering how I was gonna start this conversation with Christian. I walked in and could hear him opening the washing machine.
"I'm home babe, "
"I'm in the laundry room gotta wash the bedsheets, " I propped myself against the couch waiting for him to walk out.
"Well damn, I can't believe I'm not the one who took you out in that, " I blushed and grab his hand kissing him on the cheek.
"We need to talk Christian." He narrows his eyes confused I watch his mind run and he tries to figure it out. Jesus fucking how the hell am I gonna say this.
"So I had no idea they did this but. Alex and Kristy sent some of my information to the Golden State Warriors since Alex used to work with all that. Um, shit uh they want me to work for them as there Broadcast and Digital Features Content Director, and I said yes..."
"What no, "
"Excuse me, " I feel the breath leave me and I can't help but stumble over my words. "What the fuck do you mean 'no'."
"I mean no, your kidding you wouldn't leave me, "
"I'm not leaving you, Christian, I'm bettering my life. I didn't just work for my ass off for four fucking years to just be some radio host."
"So your just gonna leave everything and go to California, you gonna leave us."
"I can't believe you, " I scoff holding in tears marching upstairs to pack an overnight bag.
"Astrid where are you going, "
"I don't know but I can't even look at you, " I grab a duffle bag off the top shelf and throw some clothes in.
"Can we just talk let's sort this out."
"No." I grab my keys and walk out not looking back.

I sit in the car for a second waiting to see if he'll run after me or let me go find my peace. I soon find my answer. I watch him close the door and run over to the car opening the door getting in the passenger seat.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to sound like that, I just I love you Astrid and I just thought of every minute without you." I let myself soften from anger to a sad happy middle ground.
"I thought of that too you know I did too, you know how much I love you. But I know we can work this out well see each other. Call and text, "
"I'm not doing that to you, "
"Christian we can do long distance I know we can, "
"Astrid I wanna be able to give you my full 100% and I can do that with a call here and there, are schedules will clash. I can't stress you out trying to push a relationship all the way across the country, " I let myself fall apart my head now on his shoulder. I could hear the way he was breathing and could tell he was holding it all back.
"When do you leave, "
"September, " He pushes me up so I'm looking him in his gorgeous eyes.
"So I have some time to make you happy, " I laugh and lean in connecting our lips. The kiss comes with happiness and pain the happiness of it happening and the pain of knowing it's gonna stop.
