Astrid had finally graduated from college and just wanted to start her life. One night when she finds the eyes of a guy it soon leads to a life she never saw for herself.
"Here are some running shorts my sister left and a t-shirt, " Cody hands me the clothes through the bathroom door. This was feeling all too familiar to when I met Christian. I knew I wouldn't let that happen cause I didn't feel like that towards Cody. It was like hanging out with your brother nothing more. "Thank you, " "You can repay me by playing call of duty, " "Can't wait to beat you, Bellinger, " I smile taking the controller from his hand. I glanced at my phone when it turned on showing a text from Christian.
*Text msg* C: I know you're upset but let me know you're ok I love you. Me: I'm ok.
I sigh trying to put my focus back on beating Cody. "Damn it, " I say seeing that he had snuck up behind me shooting me. "Let's call it a night you can sleep in the guest room," I get up to follow him to the room than standing at the end of the hall. "What the rooms right here, " he says confused pointing at the door. I turn around walking to the front door and locking it. "Lock your door dumbass, " I stare at him walking down the hall throwing my hands up as I turn into the room.
On nights where I couldn't sleep without Christian there by my side. I would turn on a playlist I made of his interviews and fall asleep to that, it was one of those nights. I wanted to call him, I wanted to fall asleep to him talking and I mean talking at the moment. Not a video from months ago. I laid there for about 10 minutes longer before getting up and going to wake Cody up. "Cody I need a hug, " I whisper shaking him awake. "Um ok, " He says sleepily wrapping his arms around me. I lay my head on his shoulder trying not to cry and somehow achieving that. "It's ok Astrid, " "I know, " I barely get the words out. "I'm sorry if I'm a burden I'm just hurting, " "Your not a burden, I'm your friend this is what friends do, " I smile wiping my face with the shirt I was wearing. I get an Uber from Cody's house to the hotel leaving him a note not wanting to wake him after waking him last night. I walk into the room and don't see him. In the bed assuming he went to the gym. I get my duffle changing into some fresh clothes

packing the one's Cody gave me. "Hey, " I jump feeling a hand in my back. "Jesus fucking hell Christian. You can't do that make a noise or something, " He laughs grabbing my hand to calm me down. "Are you ok, " He says trying not to laugh again. "Yes, I am, " I smile admiring him. We both kinda just stand there for a minute staring at each other not wanting to let go of each other's hand. "Where were you?" He drops the smile and turns to a stern look. "Cody let me sleep in his guest room, that's it nothing happened." "Ok just as long as you were safe, " "Oh, course I was safe, safes my middle name." I walk past him to the bathroom getting my toothbrush finally brushing that awful taste out of my mouth. "Don't apologize we were both lying to each other and ourselves." I take a step forward letting him wrap his arms around me. I run my fingers through his hair resting them on the top his back. "How about one last time, " I watch his look at the bed then back at me. I smile letting him spin me onto the bed.

I walk onto the field just in time to see Cody take bp. Standing to the side dancing to the music. Cody stops then tries to flip his bat by ends up dropping it. I couldn't help but let out a small laugh at his fail. "You try it, " he's scoffs walking out of the tent handing me the bat. I flip it successfully catching it by the neck. "I still beat you in cod so I'm still superior, " "No your not, " Corey walks up beside up leaning down to finish taring his bat. "We barely know this girl and the whole team is ready to trade you for her, " I throw my head back and laugh put my hand on Cody's shoulder to balance myself. "I'm ready just tell me when " I punch Cody in the shoulder making him smile. "Oh yeah I need to go grab something stay here, " Cody runs past us to the dugout leaving us there with an awkward silence. "Cody told me about you and Yelich, I'm sorry you two seemed-" "Happy, I know, " "Sorry, you've probably heard it 100 times already, " "No I'm sorry that was rude to just cut you off, " I drop my head and blush rubbing my temples almost trying to push the stress out of my head. "I'm back, " Cody huff's running beside us out of breath-holding a bag. "Here open it, " he says holding the bag up to me. I take it looking inside to find a #14 Hernández jersey. "Cody omg, " I smile holding it staring at the name. "I thought it would be kinda egotistical to get you my jersey but I saw on your twitter about how Kiké was one of your favorite players so." Text msg: Cody: hey since we don't have to play tomorrow you wanna come over and have some beers, play some games with some of the guys. Me: sure id love guys night. Cody: ok come to the clubhouse you can ride with me.
I walk to the clubhouse stopping outside the door. I could hear the conversations going on inside. "Shes cute can't believe yelich Let her go, " I make out the voice as Verdugos "Yeah and she's super funny, good a playing cod, " I can obviously tell the voice is codys. "Man you should of see her eyes, I've never seen so much pain in someone's eyes. If it hadn't ended on good terms like she said it did I would have found his ass punch the shit out of him." I smile rolling my eyes, yeah Cody was buff and tall but in-person Christian was huge. In a one on one Cody wouldn't even get his hand up before Christian had already had him on the ground. Cody, Verdugo, and walker. Come out and stare at my quitley laughing to myself. "You ready to go, " Cody says narrowing his eyes at me. "Oh yeah, " I let one last laugh before following his down the long tunnel.
