Chapter 22: Reflection

[KAITLIN'S P.O.V.]

Everything is perfect. We've spent our time in the amusement park with laughter, jokes, silliness and even some pranks that we've done with some people.

It wasn't the kind of party that Cade shouted earlier but it was still the same kind of fun just without the Booze and loud music.

We've decided to ride everything even the kiddie carousel which is so much fun.

The others even took a picture of it, making us laugh out lout with our childishness.

I kind of forgotten the incident about Trish earlier because of how much fun I was having after all I want this night to be awesome which it is.

The next attraction that we've decided to go was the Dark Maze.

And just how it is name, the inside is truly dark and the only light that guides you is the dim light on the walls and also the flashlight that was given to you on the entrance as you find your way outside or if you shouted that you give up, ending the attraction completely.

"Pairs or single?" Lily ask all of us as she wiggles her eyebrows in a suggestive manner.

"I vote for pairs" Trish shouted as she clings to Archer.

"Single" Cade raise his hand as he said his answer making Trish glare at him.

"Pairs is much better than singles" Trish explain, still glaring at Cade

"You just want to play the scaredy cat in front of Archer" He spat.

"What? I do not!"

"Do to"

"Not"

The two bicker non stop as the others watch in amusement but I already wanted to enjoy the maze and they're not helping my excitement die down with all their bickering.

Sighing, I quietly entered the entrance without being notice by everyone.

"Welcome to the Dark Maze, young Lady" Greeted by the entrance guard of the maze which I smiled in return.

"Would you like some light?" The entrance guard showed me the flashlight that he was holding.

"Yes, please" And I grab the flashlight in his hand.

I was about to walk in the maze when the he stop me.

"Some things are not meant to be an escape but usually it is the answer for you to be save" He bow down and ushered me inside.

Confused at his words, I turn around to ask him what he means but once I did, he was already gone.

"That's weird" I mutter under my breath but shrug it off as I start my journey inside.

My expectation for the maze did not disappoint as the darkness of the place engulf me, cutting my sense of sight of any use.

Turning the flashlight on, I was greeted by the sight of walls and routes that I should take and in the middle of it is a sentence that says. "Take one path and face your journey without fear for someone shall guide you without fail"

"Someone?" I whisper.

These cryptic words is giving me a headache. Its not because they are not enlightening me but the reason is that, there words seems to be more than enlightening for some reason.

Sighing, I rub my forehead with my fingertips as I try to choose between the four paths in front of me.

5 or 10 minutes has passed and yet I'm still undecided. Knowing that I would be here for an hour or more with my indecisiveness , I chose the most appropriate thing to do.

Lifting my finger into a pointing position, I chant the words that shall help me with my decision.

"Eenie Meenie Miney Moe..." Each word that I utter, I pointed each path until I finished the last part of my chant.

My pointer finger was pointing at the inner right of the 4 paths.

Smiling, I walk passed the path that I had chosen and with the light from my flashlight it helps as my guide as to where I should walk on, for the darkness seems to get thicker as I walk further from the entrance.

The walk took me 20 minutes when I stop in front of a door.

Confusion is written all over my face if you've seen me at the moment because for one, I'll be greatly disappointed if this door leads to the exit and two, My hunger for adventure is not easily diminished.

I reach for the doors handle and open it to see nothing but darkness.

Entering the room, the door suddenly close so loudly, making me jump from surprise.

And when I took another step forward, lights suddenly turned on, leaving me breathless from the amazing room.

I am in the middle of a room full of mirrors, duplicating my reflection in every corner, with the candle lights illumination giving the whole place a glow as if your in a fantasy world.

It kind of reminds me of the stars though the light should be white or blue instead of yellow but still seeing it makes me smile from delight by the maze's ideas of entertainment.

Just like on the 4 paths in the beginning, there is a wooden board in the middle which is being held by a rope.

The board also has a saying that goes like this "Its easy to hide the pain from the world but its never easy to heal those hidden wounds"

"Confusing yet enlightening, this is getting me more excited" I smiled at the thought of continuing my journey.

I let my eyes wander around. Amaze, at their concept even though it was simple but those simple things turns into big things with the help of their cryptic word and amazing settings.

In the corner of my eye, I saw a pair of black wings but it was gone by the minute I turn my attention to where it was.

And once again, I saw it at one of the mirror's reflection. I tried being discreet with my motive but still it was gone, the minute I turn around.

It happened repeatedly but the outcome is still the same making me frustrated by the minute.

"Argh... so annoying" I huff in annoyance, crossing my hands in front of me.

'Clearly, those pair of wings is toying with me' I thought as I tried my best to find where it could be when I heard a chuckle, freezing me on the spot.

The sound seems so near yet so far at the same time making me think that maybe it was a figment of my imagination and yet it was so utterly real to be one and to prove that it was.

A reflection of someone came into view in the mirror's reflection but the candle light's is hiding the owner's face with its luminance.

I, carefully, tried to move my body to face his way but it seems it was unnecessary when that person points it out.

"You're not really that successful in hiding your intention you know"
