I could barely keep my eyes open as Cassius drove us to his grandpa's house. I'm so exhausted from camping and I want to take a shower. Although it was fun, I'm tired beyond belief. He ran his thumb over my knuckles before lifting my hand to his mouth.
"Go to sleep baby girl." I smiled lazily at him. I looked out the window at the easy road that was such a straight shot home.
"Are you sure? It's kind of the job of the person in the front seat to stay awake."
"I'm sure. You need to get some rest." I pulled my legs into the seat and turned to face him.
"Okay, then I'm sleeping." I closed my eyes as the car lulled me to sleep.

"Finally you bring her back around here!" I laughed as I leaned down to hug Cassius' grandpa. He was sitting in his wheelchair and clapped my back as he hugged me. Cassius looked beyond tired as he hugged his grandpa.
"Hey, you should go get some sleep." He looked down at me and smiled. He kissed my forehead then hugged me tightly.
"I'll see you soon. Tschau Opa." He waved at the both of us before going to the back of his grandpa's house. I helped wheel him into the living room before taking a seat in an antique chair with a cushion. I let out a small yawn and looked at Walker Texas Ranger.

"You're looking very tired." I looked over at his grandpa and smiled.
"Yeah, camping was very tiring. My back is sore from sleeping on the hard ground." He smiled at me.
"That boy sure does love the outdoors. Aimee did too. I reckon he got all his outdoorsy nature from her." He started coughing really loud and it pained me to listen to. He motioned over to his oxygen tank that I haven't seen him use since Christmas and brought it over to him. He stuck the tubes in his nose and closed his eyes as he took deep breaths. I watched in worry as I held his hand. He let go of my hand and opened his eyes.
"I'm not sure how much time I have left. I'm 75 years old and I've smoked enough for every last member of this family." He let out a deep sigh before his eyes glazed over.
"It would be amazing to see my family again; my wife and my daughter. That's what I want." It was heartbreaking to think of him dying. He's so happy and joyful so I couldn't imagine losing him. I feel so connected to him that I feel like he's my grandfather.

"Don't tear up." I didn't even notice my eyes were misting up. I wiped under my eyes.
"It's just hard to imagine you gone. You mean so much to me and so much to Cassius and I don't want to see you gone." My voice wavered as I spoke because that's how much I felt what I said.
"You're a great person. Bring it in. Come on." I leaned over to him and he put his arms around me.
"I'm glad that Cassius has you. That boy's always yapping on about you and it's precious." I blushed at his comments. I sat up and crossed my legs.
"I'm going to take a nap then I'm going to make you guys some dinner." I frowned at what he said.
"You really don't have to." He was already wheeling himself away. I sighed then shut off the tv before standing up. I went into the bedroom that Cassius was sleeping in. He was so tired that he still had one of his shoes on. I shook my head as I took his shoe off. I went to the other side of him and laid down.

I looked at Cassius sleeping before kissing his cheek. I snuggled closer to him and was surprised when he put his arm around me. I smiled and snuggled into him. I'm not tired, but I just want to be close to him. I pulled the blanket up over us because I was freezing cold.
"When did you get here?" I looked up at him. He was looking down at me.
"A few minutes ago. I didn't mean to wake you up." He pulled me closer to him and kissed my forehead.
"It's okay. Where's grandpa?" I smiled at the memory of him wheeling away.
"He said he was going to sleep." He rolled his eyes.
"He sleeps so much." Old people really are just like babies. He yawned then got out of bed. I sat up and turned on the tv. I sat back down just as Cassius came into the room.

"Dad, Drew, and Jessica are coming over for dinner." I smiled at him.
"Okay." He laid down next to me. I glanced over at him. He looks really cute lying there. I kissed his cheek then jaw before snuggling into his side. He kissed my forehead which made me smile. He's the sweetest person ever. The door bursted open and Drew came in the room looking wild eyed.
"God they are annoying me." He looked very frustrated at that moment. He took a moment then looked over at me.
"Stay golden pony boy." I looked at him in confusion as he got out of the bed. I looked at Cassius who just shrugged.
"He's probably just stressed out." I got out of the bed.
"Where are you going baby?"  He looked up at me with the saddest look on his face. I walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.

"I just want to make sure he's okay." He sat up and sighed. I crossed my arms then bit my lip.
"I want you to stay with me." That was all it took for me to get back in the bed. He put his arms around me then kissed my cheek. I closed my eyes and soaked in the feeling of his warm arms around me. I love it when he's being clingy like this because it's usually me that clings to him. He turned my face to him then kissed me on my lips. I smiled then looked into his heterochromian eyes. He kissed my forehead then he sighed.
"Okay, now we can go." I giggled at him as we got out of the bed. He held my hand as we walked to the dining room. Greyson and Jessica were sitting next to each other with Drew next to Greyson. I smiled politely then sat down next to Drew. Grandpa was smiling at everyone who was sitting at the table.

"It's so good to see you all. How have you been?" I piled vegetables on my plate.
"We've just been so wonderful! Drew and Greyson and I all had the best time going to the movies!" Drew looked absolutely miserable. Usually him and Jessica get along pretty well, so I wonder what the problem is. I excused myself from the table then went outside. I made smoke signals to get Drew's attention before finally giving up and calling him.
"Come outside," I whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" I shushed him.
"Just come outside." I hung up the phone then rested against the door. The cool breeze made me cool down. Drew came outside with his arms crossed and an eyebrow quirked.
"Is everything alright with you? What happened between you and Jessica?" He shrugged then leaned against the wall.
"She's really been on my ass today." I looked at him curiously.
"About what?" He turned to me and let out a heavy sigh.
"Well, all I've heard is 'why don't you find someone like Cassius has? You look so sad all the time. I'm sure Amelia has some friends she could hook you up with. Don't get impatient with me, I'm just trying to help you out sugar bear lumps of sweetness.'" He rolled his eyes again before taking a box of cigarettes out of his pocket.

"She stresses me out with her...her caring. She doesn't even care, it's like she's trying to itch into my life and I want to tell her to fuck off but dad will have a fit." He ran a hand through his hair then twirled a cigarette around his fingers. He's very obviously stressed out. I put my arms around him and hugged him. I just feel so bad watching other people feel bad.
"Maybe you just need a brake from her," I said when I let go of him. He shrugged.
"I'm going to smoke." I took the hint and nodded before going back inside. Everyone was done eating and were gathered in the living room. I stood next to Cassius and put my hand in his. He looked down at me.

          "What's the matter?"
"Nothing. Drew doesn't feel well and that makes me sad."
"Completely different from when you hated his guts." I blushed before punching him in the arm.
"You douche," I mumbled. He laughed before kissing my cheek.
"I'm just saying." I crossed my arms and he put his arm around my waist then pulled me closer. I tried to stay strong, but I couldn't help myself. I leaned into his embrace. Jessica and Greyson were sitting together making out like horny teenagers while we were standing watching them. Cassius kissed my cheek again before leading me to the couch where we sat to continue watching tv.
