Hello everyone! I hope you're all ready for a new one-shot!!

Also, just a small warning. There are gonna be mentions of self-harm. If you do feel uncomfortable around this subject, I suggest that this one part is not for you.

But anyway, please enjoy!!!

(Natsu and Lucy are not already dating)

It was torture ever since that last mission. She had felt so weak as to where at nights she would stay up contemplating if she should rest or not. It haunted her every move and it made her feel so cursed. In that mission, she should've been more useful. Yeah, that was it, she thought. If she was more useful and strong, maybe Wendy wouldn't have gotten hit. But she's fine now, right? Yeah, if she's fine, there's nothing to worry about, right?

The mission was weeks ago but it still came after her every movement. Along with the voice echoing in her head. The voice spoke terrible, untrue things to the blonde. But what made her so depressed was that it struck her at her weakest, where she had no choice but to believe it.

The day before today, she couldn't stay in the guild any longer. She didn't quit the guild but she did walk out and didn't plan on returning. It was also currently eleven o'clock in the evening. She hadn't went to the guild all day today. And was she gonna go back tomorrow? Probably not.

It wasn't that mission too. It was the ones before and before and before! They all made her feel so horrible and depressed and she wishes they didn't have to see her so much. She would go further but she couldn't. She just stood rocking back and forth with her knees to her chest on the floor, in the dark and didn't bother to open the blinds.

She had even locked the window so her major crush wouldn't have to come in. There were so many reasons as to why she didn't want him to see her. So many reasons.

And with what little light she had, she raised her arms in front of her. They were riddled with scars and scratches. Was this the right choice? And then she stretched out her legs. Even more. . . More scars. Some were even still bleeding but she was too shaken up to treat them. Or she just didn't care enough to treat them. Whatever it was, the only person that stuck with her this long was the voice in her head. The one that encouraged this.

In the dark, she wore a black sleeping dress. One of which revealed both of her arms and legs but not too much of her chest. She's begun to grow a bit more insecure about her chest thanks to the voice too.

So now, she continued to rock back and forth with her arms wrapped around her legs tightly.

That was until a pound came from the window close to her bed. It sounded sudden so maybe Natsu expected it to open.

Then she heard a bunch of rustling, one of which sounded distant.

That was until she realized, her head popped up from her knees and she stared straight forward.

"I forgot to lock the window from my desk."

Reject filled her quickly as the voice in her head snapped at her and all she could do was bury her head in her knees, a quiet sob that wasn't too loud but was hearable was now heard. As she held her legs for dear mercy, her fingers had even managed to scratch her own skin in replacement of the blade. She didn't want to do this, heck, she wishes it would just stop and go away so bad. But no, it appears it wasn't her call.

The sound of a door creaking alerted her but she just sobbed harder, quieter but harder. She dug her nails into her old scars and new skin however, it didn't stop Natsu from entering.

Due to his enhanced senses, he could smell the fresh new blood and that of course caught him off guard and made him twice as curious. His reason for coming here wasn't necessary anymore.

The closest rooms to him were the bathrooms and her kitchen. He first checked the kitchen for her to see if maybe she accidentally cut herself while cutting some food but at this time? He even felt dumb for thinking that. He shook it off and searched the bathroom. He slowly opened the door and peered in. The bathtub was empty but drizzles of water drizzled it. But he couldn't help but notice a small drop of a crimson red liquid. It continued onto the sink where what he saw struck his eye. It was a blade. Something he wouldn't expect to see so noticeable.

Now he was even more worried. He glanced back and forth while walking down the hall and came across her living room and bedroom. He saw a shaking body in between them both. And he then also realized, she was the source of the smell of blood.

He could even hear her soft cries and that's when he got closer to her and bent down in front of her, showing his face loud and clear to her. However, she didn't bother to look up. She was still full-on sobbing and shaking. He glanced at her arms and legs that were riddled with scars and scratches. He placed a soft hand on her arm and placed a soft kiss on it. He did it once again to another place on that same arm. He continued to do it until he went to her other arm and then continued placing soft and passionate kisses on her scars. And when he went down to her fair legs that were cloaked with those same scars and scratches, he kissed them softly then glanced back up at her. Even if it was just her blonde her as she looked down.

"Luce," he called out to her but she didn't stop.

"Luce, it's me." He said as softly as he could in attempt to comfort her. But she still shook with sobs.

He then softly rose his hand and gently placed it on her blonde hair. He softly rubbed it then placed his forehead against her head. "Luce, you're beautiful either way."

He heard her pause for a small minute. But that was only to be welcomed with a sniffle and another sob. She soon started to raise her head a little bit but not too much. Just enough to be able to gaze into his sweet onyx eyes was what she wished for. So when she was able to do that. Her body shook with fear, fear that he was gonna push her away and never return. This was her one chance to make it right but she had a very small chance of making it right thanks to that voice.

Natsu knew she was going through a rough path. And he also knew it's not gonna be easy to help her out of it. But knowing him, he was willing to help her whatever the cause. So when she rose her head even tiniest, he took this chance and leaned forward and kissed her cheek and placed a supporting hand behind her head as she sobbed into his shoulder.

And when she was finished with her sobs and her face was wet of tears, he carefully placed her onto his lap and held her closely. And with her legs wrapped around his waist, he took this chance and caressed them softly just to let her know that these scars do not define her. And that made her realize that when she did cut, he wasn't there to judge her. He was there to help her.

After a good minute or two, Natsu rose his head, "Hey Luce?"

The blonde sniffled and gave out a small croak, "Yeah?"

"You know I love you, right?" He soon buries his face in her hair, nervous for her response.

Lucy held on tighter, happy but she wasn't too sure. Her fingers first started to shake, "W-What?"

"No joke, Luce. I mean it, I love you. For a while actually." He softly embraced her.

"I-I. . ." A tear pricked at her eye, "I love you too."
