Chapter 19 - New plan

Natalie's POV

"Natalie," Irene called out my name softly unsure if she should have done that or just left us alone. Nonetheless she stepped in. Her heels hitting the floor was the only thing that could be heard in the room. "If you want...you can go see Xukun now. I've finished my job," the girl added as she came closer to us. Her eyes were wandering from my face to Jisung's. She had probably felt the awkward atmosphere and didn't know how to react.

"I'll go see him. Thank you, Irene," I got up from the chair and left the room not sparing a glance towards Jisung. Actually, I didn't care anymore. I wasn't angry or mad. All of these emotion disappeared when worry mixed with happiness replaced them.

Finally, I found the room and stopped in front of the closed door. As much as I wanted to see him...I was afraid of it. I knew it had been his decision to save me but still I felt guilty about all of it.

But what if he doesn't want me to visit him?

I wrapped my hand around the doorknob and just stood there for a while before twisting it and pushing forward.

My eyes landed on the boy. He didn't have a shirt on but his almost whole upper body was bandaged. It was hard to say if it hurt badly or not since he didn't let it show. He was sitting on bed with his legs under the white covers. A small smile found a way to his face and a sigh of relief left his mouth.

"Natalie..."

His voice was weak but loud enough for me to hear. Tears filled up my eyes but I tried to hold them back. I ran up to Xukun and gently touched his face not wanting to give him pain in any way.

"Xukun...are you okay? Why did you even do this? What even was that?" I attacked him with questions observing him carefully. Xukun shook his head obviously amused with my behaviour. "And why are you laughing, dumbass. You could have died...we all could have!"

Tears escaped my eyes as I couldn't fight them anymore. When the boy noticed it, he got serious and slowly put his hands on my face. Calmness carved my inside as his fingers leisurely caressed my cheeks to wipe the liquid.

"Shh...don't cry. I'm okay and we will find out soon who did that, I promise," the boy said quietly.

"You should get better first-"

"Don't worry about me...your life is in danger, we should find a way to catch the guy as fast as we can," he interrupted me holding my hands tightly. I was wondering if he could feel the abnormal rush of my heartbeat.

"Are you serious? Look at you! You're whole body is wrapped up in bandages and still you're saying me that my life is in danger while I'm standing here safe and sound!" I rised my voice slightly as I got up.

Xukun didn't say anything at first but his cocky smile was suddenly back as he stared right at me.

"What?" I asked not being able to understand his gaze.

"Are you worrying about me?" he asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Of course I do, idiot. I was afraid you would die!" I stated making the boy grin even wider.

"You've started to like me, haven't you?" Xukun questioned taking me by surprise. My mind went blank and I had no idea what to say. Is he right? No, yes, maybe...what am I even thinking about?

"You should have some sleep," words finally left my mouth as I facepalmed myself mentally. Nice respond, Natalie...you're doing great, sweetie *cough sarcasm cough*

I turned around to leave. I felt as embarrassed as ever. I didn't even no if my heart stopped beating or it was beating so fast that I couldn't even felt it. What's wrong with you, Natalie...get yourself together.
