Xukun's POV
"What is it Irene?" I asked as soon as I entered the office. I felt so bad for living Natalie with Chan. I should have stayed with them and observed. Things had been getting really strange lately and that Chan guy too often had been appearing in the picture.
"Xukun...the guy from yesterday the one that was near Natalie's house. He remembers the voice of the guy that 'hired' him. He recognised Chan's voice," Irene explained shortly and I sat down from shock as my heart stopped beating.
C-chan? Oh god Nahc...N-A-H-C...backwards is C-H-A-N...why haven't I thought of it earlier. Did he made this nickname on his own?
"And it actually makes sense. He knew about her a lot since he is her close friend that used to do things that Jisung was supposed to. He came in right after I ran after the guy. And that time when he 'saved' her in front of the studio. He knows her moves. He was the one that took her on the races. Also...I checked him because three years ago we haven't done that carefully. He moved a lot and he was always one step before us."
One step before us...
"Hey...where is Natalie?" asked Ziyi and I looked at him standing up. It was a trap.
"With Chan going to her father that is in the hospital...but he now that I think about it he isn't in the hospital. It was all settled," I explained with warm tears of frustration running down my cheeks.
How could I be so stupid?! How could I left her alone with him there? Why did I trust him that much to let him drive her?!
It was the first time I was totally lost. Confused. Angry. I loved her so much that my heart used to beat faster just by hearing her beautiful name. Every girl with brown hair that passed me by remainded me of her. It was hard for me not to think about her and because all of these...because of me she was in danger.
Natalie didn't deserved that. She didn't deserve all that stress, sleepless nights and paranoia she would probably end up with. She didn't deserve that distance she had to make between her friends to keep them safe, the break in job, her dream job.
All because of me. She didn't deserve that all...and I didn't deserve her.
The pain it caused me...that thought...that I put the loved one in danger just because I loved her...probably one of the worst feelings.
I'll find you, Natalie...I promise.
Natalie's POV
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. We're going somewhere else, dear," Chan said with a smirk on his face and my heart started to beat faster.
"C-chan...are you j-joking? You're joking, right?" I asked it didn't feel like some stupid prank. It was real and I didn't know what it was at all. "Chan, where are you taking me?"
"To your cousin...don't you want to meet her?" he said smiling to himself as if he was mentally ill and just ran away from the madhouse.
What?
"What cousin?" I asked more like to myself but making the guy chuckled mischievously.
"Jennie."
Jennie...what is he talking about...
I was speechless. Totally speechless. So many thoughts ran through my mind and tears find a way to escape. It all started to get to me. Chan. He was always close to me. He had been close after I started dating Jisung...after Xukun had disappeared. Then when we moved he was almost like my boyfriend. He knew everything about me. He showed me what Jisung had been hiding from me. He had unbelievably perfect timing.
