Ziyi's POV
Soon after my talk with Xukun I arrived to Natalie's neighbourhood. I saw her house from afar. The light was on so that meant that she was probably inside.
I stood there patiently waiting for something to happen or for Xukun's orders. I usually got the most boring jobs like observing someone's house or checking CCTV cameras. It was an important job after all but nonetheless it was as boring as history classes. Actually, I didn't know how looked a history class because I had never attended any before but it must have been boring since barely who liked it.
Suddenly I saw a shadow walking around the house. I couldn't see him clearly because of the dim light but I could tell that it wasn't a friend. He wore dark clothes what made me even more suspicious about the guy.
I walked closer to take a better look. Out of nowhere I accidentally kicked a stone what made a loud sound compering to the quiet neighbourhood.
Damm...
The guy looked at me and rushed off. I chased after him out of a habit screaming for him to stop. Of course he didn't listen and I actually had expected that kind of reaction. I would have been shocked if he stopped.
He ran into a forest and disappeared out of my sight.
"Sh!t," I mumbled breathing heavily. Knowing I wouldn't gain anything by standing and cursing I turned back to Natalie's house.
I walked quite fast however I needed to take some few deep breaths. I hadn't realised we were running for so long until I realised how far is Natalie's house from the place I was in.
I finally made it to her house and the light was still on. I could see a shadow wandering around the house. I thought that maybe Natalie was getting ready to sleep so I sat quietly on a bench near her house and observed.
Suddenly my phone rang breaking the silence. I looked at the screen and saw Xukun's name. He wants something from me again...
It was my job actually to do what he said, but protecting Natalie wasn't one of them. If my relationship with Xukun had been only a business relationship, I wouldn't have done that. But he was my friend. I had help him...no...I wanted to help him.
"Yeah Xukun, what is it?" I answered the phone waiting for his response still having my eyes on the house.
"Where is Natalie?!" he yell-whispered at me with a hint of anger in his voice.
"In her house," I said casually not knowing what he was mad at.
"She texted me 20 minutes ago that she's on her way to the park to meet secret admirer!" he rised my voice slightly and I went silent for a moment.
But she's in her house thought...
"Listen...I noticed that someone was walking near Natalie's house earlier but when he spotted me he rushed off. I was chasing him but he ran away, but when I came back the lights were still on and now I can see a shadow inside," I explained the situation and this time he went silent for a moment thinking about something and checking her location.
But is it possible that she left the house when I was chasing that dude?
I stood up out of shock as panic rushed through my veins. I got nervous thinking that the person in Natalie's house isn't Natalie and he or she had been there for a good fifteen minutes at least, visiting her house like a museum. I knew Xukun would kill me.
But if something will happen to Natalie...he'll kill me even twice...
Xukun's next words made me more scared as I could hear his worried and angry tone saying. "Ziyi...the person inside isn't Natalie."
