^^ the new cover for this fanfic!!

Michelle took the stairs two at a time, she knew if she stopped now she would lose the resolve Tony Stark had helped her gain, and if she lost it she probably wouldn't go through with her plan. To tell Peter how she feels.

It made her nervous to even think about, she didn't like feeling nervous. She usually was so sure of herself, it was something she prided herself on.

Ugh the things she would do for Peter Parker.

When she reached Ned's apartment she was out of breath and stopped for a second to gather herself. She held the sunflower tightly between her fingers and nervously bit her lip as she knocked on the door.

There was no going back now.

The door swung open and she steadied herself trying to plan what she was going to say in her head. Hey Peter, I've missed you, I like you... a lot. Do you want to go get dinner?

It sounded cheesy and way too simple for everything that was going on in her head and it probably wouldn't even come out right in the moment but it was the best she could come up with at the time, this was all happening too fast, but she didn't want to slow down.

"Mj? Hi! What are you doing here?" Ned grinned, pulling her into a very tight hug.

"I just wanted to check in on Peter, you know see how he's doing," she managed as he squeezed her. Ned let go and frowned, glancing at the flower that was now slightly crushed in her hand.

"Oh my god, is that for him?" he gestured to the flower excitedly, "are you going to finally tell him how you feel? Oh my god!!" the boy was practically jumping up and down with happiness.

"Uhh, I mean, I don't know... something like that?" it came out as more of a question and she knew if she didn't talk to Peter soon she was going to lose her confidence.

"Oh wait," Ned's smile faltered, "Peter isn't here right now."

Michelle felt her heart drop as she felt her cheeks begin to burn, this idea was so much better in theory and now it was turning into a disaster. "What do you mean he isn't here? Where is he?"

She sounded way too invested in Peter for her liking but she couldn't help it, she had come this far and she was not leaving without some sort of answer.

Ned went pale and stuttered, "he's uhh doing the Stark Internship? And then he said something about going to Stark Industries," he faltered as he realized that Peter would already be at SI if he was really doing the internship, Mj knew Peter was probably out as Spider-Man, "oh, it was because Pepper called, they need to plan the funeral."

Michelle felt terrible, of course, Peter was being the hero, he was too good of a person to take a break, even when he needed one.

And she had forgotten about the funeral, or maybe mentally blocked it. She really should be there, helping Pepper but she couldn't bear to organize another funeral. It was too close to her mother's and she didn't know if she could handle it, her mother may not have been the best person in the end, but it was still hard.

"You really should come to the funeral though, it's on Sunday and it's going to be a small service," Ned added when she didn't say anything, "Peter would really appreciate it, and also you can always tell him how you feel another day!"

She nodded trying to force a smile on her face. Of course she would go to the funeral, she loved May and Peter needed as much support as he could get. But Ned was wrong, she couldn't tell Peter her feelings another day, she was losing all hope she'd had in her plan as her anxiety began to take over. She needed to do something before Tony Stark's words faded from her mind.
