"I’m so glad to be home," My mum said as she fell onto the couch.
"You want me to take your bags upstairs?" Dad asked.
She shook her head, “It’s alright.”
I put my things in my room, then grabbing some money. “I’ll be back, I’m gonna go get some soda from the corner store.”
"Okay," My mum said. "Come back safely." She sounded like she was about to fall asleep. It was only about to fall asleep. It was only about seven back home, but the complete opposite in China. It was an amazing trip, everything was really beautiful, but we were all really exhausted. So, a coke sounded mandatory for the situation because I still had to do a bunch of schoolwork before I went back to school the next day.
I crossed my arms to warm myself up, because my long-sleeved flannel wasn’t doing the trick. My money jingled in my pocket, it was only change because that was all I had at the moment. I quickened my pace so I could get into the warm store as quickly as possible.
Soon enough, the bell clinked as I stepped inside. The store was empty except for the cashier at the counter. He nodded to me in acknowledgement as I slowly strolled to the back of the store.
I looked at the glass cases of sodas, teas, and alcohol, taking it all in. It was so good to be back in Australia. I opened one of the cases and let the cold air rush onto my face as I plucked a Coke in a glass bottle from inside.
The bell clinged again as I walked through the aisles, then to the front of the store to pay. There was a man in a vest and gray hoodie standing in front of the cashier, looking at magazines and gum. He slapped down a pack of bubble gum on the counter, I stood to the right of him, looking at the magazines, and remaining in my place, next in line.
"Okay," The man had a gruff, deep voice. He shipped out a hand gun faster than I had ever seen. "I am going to give you ten seconds to empty out the register, or I will shoot you both.” He put a bag on the counter and pointed the gun at the cashier.
The cashier, a fat, middle-aged man with no wedding ring, looked at me for help, but I just shrugged.
"One," The man with the gun began to count.
The cashier fumbled for the register, opening it up quickly and beginning to put money in the bag. the man looked at me to make sure that I wasn’t going anywhere.
"Two."
Suddenly, I started to feel a heat in my left palm. My hand flew up, and I pointed it at the criminal.
A large spark of green and yellow electricity erupted from my hand, surprisingly not burning the criminal, but making him hit the ground, completely unconscious.
"Call the police," The cashier said, coming out from behind the counter, then beginning to drag the lifeless man to the back. "I’m gonna lock him up in the back storage room until they get here." He was acting as if what had just happened was completely ordinary. Well, as long as he wasn’t going to tell anyone.
I called the police with the store phone behind the counter, left my money for the man in plain sight, and left the store with my Coke. (I’d payed him, I wasn’t stealing!) But I was completely confused about what had just happened. And how could i have caused this?
i mulled over the ideas in my brain, but there was only one explanation: Luke’s hair gel. It had changed me, but changed me how else?
Could I qualify myself as a super hero?
