"Luke, honey, it’s time for dinner!" I could hear my mum calling me from the kitchen.
"I’m okay, mum! I ate when the boys were over!" I answered.
"Well," She sounded hesitant. "Okay." I went back to my work then.
My hair gel was almost done. I just had to add a little more water, and then I would never have to waste money on buying hair gel again. If this proved to be a stable recipe, I would be able to take care of my hair naturally for the rest of my life.
I put in my beaker of water, the gel sizzled and smoked at its touch, and somehow, this never made me question it at all. I played with my lip ring, a smile tugging at the corner of my mouth. By using this, hopefully Bri wouldn’t be able to resist for me. Lately, everything I did was for her, because I wanted her to really notice me.
Bri was her own kind of person, in a good way. She wasn’t extremely popular, but she wasn’t a loser at all. She changed her hair all the time, and at that moment in time, it was orange, like Haley Williams from Paramore.
I gave my gel one last mix, then put it into an empty plastic container. “Here it goes.” I said to myself, I applied it to my hair, and bam. It stood exactly how it should.
I held my beaker in my hand, applauding myself on a job well done. I put some of the hair gel on the last slice of pizza in the large box, and ate it quickly. It was just delicious.
"Dr. Fluke is at it again," I smiled to myself.
I looked at the posters on my walls as I stood eating my crust. My favorite was an original, drawn by Ashton. It was from a year back, kind of like blueprints to costumes, superhero costumes.
There was one for each of us; Calum, Ashton, Michael, and I. We wanted to be heroes, for as long as I can remember, we all had. We’d all been raised with comic books, cartoons, and movies about these people who had powers. Some used them for good, some used them for evil. We had always wanted to be the next Spiderman, Batman, or Superman.
Little did the guys know, that I’d spent most of the summer making the costumes in the blue prints for us. I wanted to wait for the right moment to give them the suits. they were very detailed, with padding, design, everything. Something to be proud of, no doubt.
Anyway, back to the topic of Bri. She was dating Chris Welsch, captain of the football team. it got me furious to think of him cheating on her.
I switched out of my envious thoughts of him playing her, and realized that the beaker in my hand had shattered because I was squeezing so hard.
That was odd.
I went to the bathroom to get towels, and then I mopped up the floor and put the towels down thelaundry shoot. After I had cleaned up all the glass off of the floor, I collapsed onto my bed. It had been a long day. But then I realized I still had quite a few things to do. I groaned as I stood up, then went to my desk.
My friends knew that I was quite the scientist, but they had no clue about how far I had helped science evolve, no one knew. A white smoke puffed up as I took off a few floorboard, opening up a chamber where I kept old water guns that I had rewired. Now, they were laser guns.
I had taught myself everything I knew. My brain worked abnormally, but much faster and more in depth than anyone else’s. I had always felt blessed with it as a gift. I had absolutely no idea what I would ever do with guns like this, but I had faith that some day, I would.
"Luke!" My mum called from downstairs. "Can you come downstairs for a second?"
I sighed with frustration, “Yes!” I threw open my door and then trudged down the stairs, until I fell. Toppling over myself, even flipping upside down at one point, I landed at the bottom of the stairs on my bum with a bloody knee.
"Luke, honey, are you okay?" She called.
"Yeah," I grunted, dusting myself off. But suddenly, my knee started to heal. My gash disappeared and new skin grew back, good as new.
This was really weird.
