STARSHINE.
FIRST-PERSON POV.
I'm not sure that horrifying is strong enough of a word to describe what I felt right then. A sense of dread crept through me. There were more of these deformed-looking wolves?
Speaking of which, I leaned in and saw that the thing was bleeding too, but it was dead. After a moment of hesitation, I stepped around the pools of blood to check Cactus's pulse. I found one, a weak one.
Cyan was still horrified and Ray looked somewhere in between nervous and scared. Apple came outside, confused, and she yelped when she saw Cactus. "Is she okay?" Apple quickly said. I shook my head.
"No, but she's alive. Someone go get Rocky to help get her out of there. I think I know what we can use as bandages to stop the bleeding." I spread my wings and-despite my fear-flew over the forest, looking for...
There. I had seen this when we first arrived. These trees had weirdly shaped trunks and skeleton-like branches, with large long dark-green leaves that swayed softly in the wind. I tore a couple dozen off before returning.
Rocky was sitting next to a now-awake Cactus, looking distressed. Apple and Ray looked upset too. Dove was still asleep. Cyan was watching the whole thing with a nervous look on her face.
I ran over and without speaking to anyone twisted one end of the leaf so that it was almost like a rope, and left the middle untouched so it could stop the bleeding. I gently began to wrap the leaves around the wounds like this, tying the two ends together tightly.
I just saved Cactus's life.
