FIRST-PERSON POV.
I watched the others go about. Such interesting dragons, too bad we've all had our skill wasted here.
I've been watching, and I know that Ray has a crush on Apple but Apple doesn't like him back. I know that Dove doesn't like anyone and Rocky thinks of us like siblings. I myself? I don't care for that stuff. It just slows you down.
I knew what our next step would be: we'd rest, get up, and head for the city.
I saw Cyan and Starshine. Cyan was slowly drifting off herself, and it showed how venerable he was. The hybrid had run off because he thought he was worthless. He wasn't strong. He was smart, though, I'll give him that. And when it came down to it Cyan would protect him. It was quite obvious they liked each other.
I turned my attention to the city. Watching it, even from a distance, gave me an empty feeling. Like there was nobody there.
I shuddered. This was gonna be a horribly long trip to 'salvation.' And it might not even be real. It could be a couple of rock formations. Or it's deserted.
Whatever. Maybe I worry to much. But I knew one thing for sure:
Whoever attacked Starshine would be back.
I watched Starshine and Cyan as they fell asleep. This may be the last time either of them smile.
