She held the keys in her hands, the building was bought and it was hers, but she still just couldn't believe it.

It all started because she decided to make some soap. That's it. Soap.

She used the recipes she found in a book that had belonged to her great-grandmother and made some gifts for friends. Her close friend, Ella, had offered to sell it in her small market shop, and things went pretty well. It wasn't too long before sales were enough that she had had to make soap-production a full-time job, so she added some other simple products like body scrubs, bath bombs and masks. These were things people could make in their kitchen, yet they were flying off the shelf in Ella's shop.

Finally, Ella called to say that an eccentric lady with fancy clothes had come in to buy out all of the month's product in one go. The woman said she had been gifted some of the soap and couldn't get enough of it. And that was all it took, because apparently that woman was the owner of the biggest chain of high-end stores in the state, and she wanted Eyebright Botanicals in her stores. So a week later, she was sitting sizable check in her hand and a contract to carry her humble products in every Capra store in the state, with possible negotiations to sell in sister stores nationwide.

Less than a year after making some soap for friends, this is where she stood.

Squaring her shoulders, she forced her feet from the sidewalk up the steps to the main entrance of her new building. Unlocking the large glass door, she walked in and past what would be the exclusive retail area to the large mirrored elevator doors. As she pushed the button and waited, she took in her appearance. Surely this isn't what a CEO looked like, what an overnight millionaire looked like, with her floral sundress and strappy sandals. The strap of her leather bag, carrying diagrams, pictures, files, and recipes was slung across her body, and her wavy hair was trying its hardest to escape its simple braid and go wild. As the doors slid open, she entered and pushed the button for the fourth floor.

The halls were eerily quiet. The only sound came from her shoes hitting the clean tiles as she walked down the long hallway past the doors that would eventually hold her entire management team. One lone door at the end of the hallway held a marble plaque, with her name engraved and painted in black letters.

Desaree Swanson, CEO.

Pushing the heavy door open, she took a big breath as she twirled around in the large empty space. This is where it was going to begin. Dez hoped to run her company in a different way, one that counted for something more than just churning money. One that held a family, and one that gave back to the community and the environment. The building had already been certified green, and the production set up would continue along the guidelines of that certification. Since her products were simple and natural, it was easy to keep up with those stipulations anyway. Dez spun another circle, stopping when she felt her phone buzzing in her bag. Digging it out and swiping to open, she put it to her ear to answer.

"This is Dez."

"Ms. Swanson," a man's voice answered, "Kim Namjoon. I've arrived with the movers and items you requested."

"Good! Awesome!" Dez chirped as she grew excited, "Tell them I will bring instructions and diagrams for where to put things in a just a minute," she instructed, "Since it will be a while before our offices are ready, go ahead and get us a table at the cafe across the street and we'll get started there."

"Sounds good, Ma'am," he replied politely.

Dez said goodbye and ended the call, feeling like a total badass. She had just successfully instructed her first employee, her personal assistant, to do a thing....and she sounded so cool as she did it. Doing a few steps of the running man and a little cabbage patch, she giggled before pulling herself together and heading back downstairs.
