Scenario: Spouses trying to get their partners to go to sleep already. [GC] contains naughty joke lol

The night was still and quite, save for the occasional chirp of crickets that sang in the distance. The clock very kindly told her it was 9:30 p.m. and where Goku saw that as way past bedtime, Chichi saw it as free time. Yes, out of all the time she gave to others, it was nice knowing there was solitude in the dark. For the past three days, the housewife was invested in a crime novel. Usually she'd read something romantic but after Bulma explained it was a book that not even she could put down, Chichi just had to read it for herself.

Her fingers, so skilled and delicate, opened to the exact page were she left off. Then her eyes, her whole body seemed to tense as she reentered a world of betrayal and mystery. Everything went well for at least five minutes, another plot twist was about to be revealed when suddenly; "You gunna stay up late? Again?" The saiyan gave a disappointed frown that Chichi could clearly ignore; she continued to read as if he just declared that the sky was blue.

"Uh-huh." Her lips made the motion to speak but her eyes remained glued to the pages.

"But what about sleepin'? Y'need to rest too, hun." He now stuck his thumbs in his obi, trying to make any little movement to get her to focus on him.

The woman's voice already began to wane. "Hmm..I will later, dear. Thank you though." She added politely, hoping he'd just go to bed like the baby he was.

"But Chichi," he began to whine, "that's the third time this week!"

Now he was really causing a distraction, and one that really needed to be addressed. She sighed curtly before finally lifting her eyes from the book. "So? I deserve to have my free time too, ya know. I don't want my life to just be cooking, cleaning, chores and sleepin' over and over and over." Now the alien pouted briefly, seemingly absorbing what she said in distaste. "Besides, you've slept alone plenty o' times before. I don't know why ya need me to watch."

The amount of sass in that statement flew over Goku's head (as usual) and instead he replied with something sweet. "That's kinda the problem," he muttered while rubbing his neck.

"What?" Chichi felt a prick of warmth against her cheeks, not fully understanding the context of such a phrase despite being well educated in literature.

The fighter's face contorted awkwardly, as if what he said was to be stored away for some other time. "Can't ya read it, I dunno, upstairs?"

"In the dark?"

"No, with the lights on obviously. I don't mind."

The amount of near begging he displayed almost swayed Chichi into obeying. But much to what her maiden name suggested; she was too stubborn to comply. She sighed again, this time with more sympathy. "No Goku. I'd like to stay downstairs for awhile but," for the life of her she couldn't say no to those puppy eyes, "tomorrow I'll head up early, okay?" She batted her eyes sweetly, smoothing over the deal before another plead could be uttered.

"Fine." He sulked at first, nearly guilting the hell out of the wife. "But move over." He tapped her leg impatiently, and before she could process a word of what he said, Chichi found his big, spiky head in her lap. The Saiyan got rather comfortable on that small couch, even with his legs dangling off the furniture he still looked more than peaceful.

In the end, her husband was like a dog; constantly hungry, following her to bed, and always getting into trouble. Yet through it all he was loyal, sweet, gentle, even if he didn't quite realise it himself. And to top it off; he loved to have his head scratched. "Oh Goku," she smiled sweetly before allowing her hand to dive deep into his inky tresses. She drew circles upon his scalp, ran her fingers through every spike until he at least fell asleep, and even then she'd probably continue. Why? Because she loved him, wanted to show it for as long as possible.

"Hey," he yawned, shifting his position to lay on his back, "is reading really that great?"

"Hmm, I would say so. Reading is good for all sort-sa things. I should teach you one day." Her hand adapted to his new position and without a second thought her thumb was painting invisible marks all over his cheek.

"Me? Learning?" The warrior looked at her like she was the alien, and Chichi merely rolled her eyes.

"You're capable of anything, sweetie."

Seemingly unaffected by the woman's words of encouragement, Goku reached over with a pair of fingers and tilted the literature down to meet his eyes. "Hmm.." he surveyed the text, and surprisingly there were a few words he could understand. Chichi watched him curiously, she had to admit he looked rather adorable. "Woah! What does that say?"

Those black eyes looked to see where his big finger pointed and immediately her face dropped. "That says sex, Goku."  The brunette couldn't believe it. Out of all the words.

Suddenly, he was more alert, more interested in this reading stuff and all Chichi could do was roll her eyes for the hundredth time. "Ohhh I thought so.  So that's how ya spell it." Then with a look the woman wasn't all too familiar with, Goku said something that nearly sent her over the edge; "why read about it when you can have the real thing?"

A heat, fierce and red painted her once pale cheeks. The look of confidence on his face angered as well as enticed her yet with something so forthright and cheesy, she couldn't focus on the good. Her hand was first to slap him on his meaty arm, "Goku-sa, go to sleep!" But as usual, the aggression she showcased was merely laughed at. "It's not funny." Another wave of jabs and slaps were issued to the childish one but it seemed he didn't care. "Since when did you become so dirty mouthed?" Among her fury she felt the corners of her mouth twitch into a smile, it made her laugh to see him act this way.

"I dunno. Ever since I married you, I guess." His vibrant smile was quite distracting but she continued.

"Is that why ya wanted me to go to bed so bad?"

"No..." there was that look again, "but if that's whatcha want it to be th--" a slender hand clamped over his mouth. Her heart couldn't take another word.

After a few seconds of Goku's laughter, she removed her hand and squeezed his cheeks together. "Go. To. Sleep." But the smiles still remained on the pair. Moments like these, where they were able to tease each other were rare. They were so busy being guarded, or worried, or busy saying goodbye that it was quite refreshing to be the opposite; flirty, silly and for once in a long time, happy. "You're so bad. I'll have you know that word has more than one meaning." He said something witty in response but it went unnoticed to the matriarch because she was too busy admiring him. The way he laid on top of her, wanted her attention, made little teases, all of it made her heart skip. She wanted him to know that no matter how much of a pain in the butt he was; "I love you." The ex-princess leaned down and unexpectedly kissed the warrior, and that was sure to keep him quiet for the remainder of the night.
