“F-father?” Jeremy stuttered when he first met Zeus, Lord of the gods, and more importantly to him, his dad.

“Jeremy,” Zeus responded from his golden throne, “Long time no see. I see you have brought your silent siren. She is a half siren that doesn’t sing to protect mortals. Interesting. Very interesting, indeed. You have come seeking my help, son?”

“Yes,” Amanda responded for him, as respectfully as possible, for she was talking to Zeus, the Lord of the Gods. “How should we go about completing this quest? Apollo gave us a vague idea, but we are a bit confused.”

“Ahh,” responded the Lord of the sky. “I cannot give too much of this away, but the answer to your question is television. Everyone watches, including me. Now, begone. You have a quest to complete.”

“Yes, father, Lord Zeus,” Jeremy obeyed, looking his father in the eyes. “We’ll get to work right away.”

“I should hope so!” Zeus’s eyes twinkled, and he let out a light laugh, “I have been watching over you, Jeremy. You are my favorite mortal son. When you come back, you shall stay on Olympus with me. We’ll have such fun, father and son. Hey, I was a poet and I didn’t even know it!”

Amanda mournfully glanced at Jeremy. They’d been through so much together by now, that she couldn’t bear to be separated from him.

“Don’t you worry yourself, siren,” Zeus turned toward Amanda with a disapproving glance. “I don’t care for sirens much, but if it will make my son happy, you may stay, too.”

“Thank you, Zeus,” Amanda bowed. “You have shown such honorability. Thank you for extending your hospitality toward me.”

“Your silent siren’s a keeper,” Zeus smiled toward Jeremy, “Maybe she’s not as bad as the others, after all. Now, you must get started. You have a lot of work ahead of you.”

And then the two of them complied, and started flying back down to Earth on their winged shoes.
