As Jack decides to head into the ever so spacious gym, he breathes a sigh of defeat, having lost a war with boredom and having absolutely nothing to do. He always finished his homework as soon as he got it, he didn't have that many friends to talk to that were at the academy, and he was bullied by other guys meaning he felt like an outcast. Then he hears it- the sound of someone dribbling a soccer ball with their feet. He turns around to see a redhead girl with her hair held back with a headband and showing off her sapphire blue eyes. Unsurprisingly she's in her PE uniform as is Jack, as he intended to kill some time in the gym.
"Yo what's up?" The girl asks.
"Nothing much, just bored out of my mind." Jack replies as he trains his eyes on the soccer ball. "You part of the soccer team?"
"I find myself playing with the guys more. I'm Hayari." The girl replies.
"I'm Jack." Jack says as the two shake hands. "I used to play soccer myself, but then someone accidentally smashed up my ankle trying to dive for a kick."
"Ouch!" Hayari says, cringing. "Well, let's see how good you are."
"Alright. Are we going to set up goals?" Jack asks, wondering how this would work in the gym.
"Here." Hayari replies as she places down cones in lieu of the goalposts. "That'll do it."
"Alright, let's play." Jack says as they set the ball in the middle and decide to back up all the way to their cones.
"On the count of three!" Hayari calls out. "One! Two! Three!" And they make a mad dash for the ball! Hayari takes the ball first and manages to keep it away from Jack before making a mighty kick down the middle of the cones. Jack then gets the ball and makes a wild gambit as he manages to get past Hayari and delivers a kick from his side of the field! Amazingly he scores and Hayari can only look in surprise. "Nice kick!"
"Thanks! Now we're even!" Jack replies as Hayari takes possession of the ball. Jack quickly moves in to intercept before Hayari decides to take a wild gambit of her own. "Oh no you don't!" He shouts as he realizes what Hayari is about to do. He quickly runs back to guard his goal when Hayari misses her kick and the ball rockets towards Jack's face, and that's the last thing he sees before it smacks him and knocks him out. When he regains his senses, he finds himself at the infirmary with none other than Nurse Kurashiki looking over him.
"Why am I not surprised?" Nurse Kurashiki giggles.
"What happened?" Jack asks.
"You took a soccer ball to the face." Nurse Kurashiki replies.
"I was lucky to be there and break your fall. I don't know how I did it but I managed." Hayari says. "I'm just glad that you don't have a concussion."
"Yeah, I know one student who's had something similar happen to her, the last thing we need is for something like that to happen to me." Jack replies humorously.
"Well, at least your memory is still completely intact." Nurse Kurashiki says. "But you injured your leg when you fell. That probably won't recover for a few days." And with that, Jack tests, and confirms, the nurse's suspicions. Hayari quickly moves to Jack's bad side so she can help him get around for the time being.
"Thanks." Jack says. "You're a pretty good friend."
"Aww I'm touched!" Hayari replies as she helps escort Jack back to his dorm. As soon as Jack makes his way to his room he bids Hayari farewell for now as he gets comfortable on his bed and naps.
Jack's thoughts: She's got some legs! She seems like a really good soccer player and she seems more than capable of standing up to the guys, so I'm hoping for the best for her.
