A Kings Work Is Never Done

When Livior walked out the doors there were thousands of first born waiting and cheering for him even chanting his name. He waved and smiled and tried to be majestic but he knew his fake smile wasn't fooling anyone. When the noise finally died down he knew he was expected to give a speech but had no idea what he was going to say. He spoke mentally with Troyth and asked him what he thought of all this and Tryoth said "You will make the ideal king, even my kind would follow you."

Livior said "Please don't say that I did not want these people following me and I don't want yours to follow me either. I just want to be Livior."

That was not what Livior wanted to hear but he thanked Troyth regardless. He was so unsure of himself he did not see how the people could follow him. After all he thought to himself, who in their right mind would want a thirteen year old to lead them into battle. He finally internally shook himself and cleared his throat preparing to make his first speech ever.

"Thank you people of Livioria, your kindness warms my heart. I'm sure like me none of you woke this morning expecting the wise and benevolent King Belam to suddenly be replaced by a thirteen year old half forest elf half human who has yet to even have the need to shave, although being half forest elf I'm not sure I will ever need to shave. I will do everything in my power to keep each and every one of you safe from Norvell and his hordes of slaves. I will do all in my power to be sure evil such as his never threatens our homes and world again even if that means destroying both of us together. If that does happen I want it known to all throughout the kingdom that I name Belam to replace me should I leave no living heirs. I know this is a little morbid to say on my coronation day but I want to be sure you are all taken care of regardless of what happens to me in the future to come. I will treat each and every one of you as if you are my own brother, sister, mother or father, of this you have my word of honor. I also have a request of all of you. When you see me in the streets please just speak to me as if I were YOUR brother or son. I do not wish to be bowed to and I do not wish to be called your majesty or your highness, I'm just Livior. I wish to be treated as an ordinary citizen. Now enough of longwinded speeches, I expect each and every one of you to join the feast and eat until you are full. No one should be hungry by the end of the evening."

After he finished speaking even though he thought he did a terrible job, the people seemed to love it and cheered for almost fifteen minutes before heading for the feast. Belam and his new personal guards lead him and his family to the grand dining hall which to Livior seemed as big as Cereba itself and was lined with tables and food was piled high on all of them. He was led to the largest table and his chair looked like another throne. He had Belam sit to his right with Vahlt to Belams right. His parents sat to his left and the crowds began filing in Livior stood as they began to enter as did Belam and his family following his lead. Livior noticed that nobody was sitting down which he thought was odd and then he realized they must be all waiting for him to sit first. Livior apologized to all which they understood this was all new to him and he sat down. As soon as he sat down everyone else began to sit down.

Belam explained that it was custom for the king to taste the meal and decide if it was worthy of his guests and if it was he was to say "The feast is on!" loudly for all to hear. Everyone looked at Livior as he cut a piece of some kind of meat and placed it on his plate. He cut a bite sized piece and ate it and did as Belam suggested and said "The feast is on!" to which everyone cheered and started eating. When the feast finished people came up and to Liviors relief did as he asked and said things like "Welcome to Livioria Livior" and "We can't wait to see what you can do as king, Livior" and even more personal messages like "I'm glad you're feeling better Livior." This made him feel more at home and welcome than the people of Cereba ever made him feel. When he had bade the last of his guests goodnight Belam led him and his family to the royal chambers.
