The Trick and Treat
About a month after Livior began his coma he and Vahlt were having their talks even during the day since Livior was somehow not allowing their pleas to affect him the way Vahlt hoped. Vahlt decided it was time to take matters into his own hands and briefly left Liviors mind this morning. Vahlt found death and asked him "Would you like to help Livior get out of this nightmare of his a little faster?"
Death smiled and said "What do you have in mind?"
Vahlt said "I would like you to appear in the royal chambers and tell them you have come for Ceren and reach out to touch him at just the right moment. He is in his own mind at least the only one who could stop you and he would have to wake up to stop you."
Death laughed and said "This is a most devious and yet...ingenious plan. Why do you wish to wake him up so soon though? You get to stay and talk to him as he is."
Vahlt said sadly "Because my parents, my sister and niece and nephews, my wife and especially my children need him back now more than ever. There is such a wave of sadness in those rooms and throughout Theressia right now that only he can fix."
Death looked thoughtfully and said "I have noticed this too. People are more eager than they should be to meet me which makes them careless but how would I know when you wish me to appear and begin?"
Vahlt asked "Since I'm dead you can hear my thoughts such as they are wherever we are can't you?"
Death smiled and said "Yes I can and if you simply think for me to start now I will know."
Vahlt smiled mischievously and said "Now I just have to get him worked up enough before you start that he rushes without thinking too much about things to figure it out but I know I can do it."
Death then said "I will await your signal and will extend it for a few minutes after you alert him I will tell them the gods have demanded this child as recompense for Livior not fulfilling his fate, his destiny and even if he wakes up he will not be able to stop me. Make sure Livior is listening through Cerens ears when I start speaking."
Vahlt grinned and said "Oh I will."
A moment later Vahlt was back in Liviors mind who said "Where did you go? I thought you were here to help me?"
Vahlt replied worriedly "I heard some spiritual noise around Ceren and went to check for myself. The gods are watching him themselves right now."
Livior looked shocked and confused and asked "Why would the gods be watching Ceren?"
Vahlt said "I do not know but they do not seem pleased. I followed them to your bed and they were looking at you which gave me a sense of fury on their parts."
Livior said angrily "Let them be angry with me then. They have done nothing to help us against this evil trying to envelope the world."
Vahlt replied irritably "They brought us you."
Livior snorted and said "Some prize I turned out to be."
Vahlt shook his head and yelled "When are you going to wake up and realize you are more than you give yourself credit for. I know you don't believe in yourself even when you appear to. Even when you told Norvell in that dream that you were the most powerful sorcerer in the world rather than Norvell himself you thought you were lying. You weren't lying to anyone aside from yourself when you felt you were lying."
Livior was becoming irritated now and said "Everyone keeps telling me how great I am but if I was so great I could have saved you."
Vahlt now yelled as loud as he could "YOU'RE NOT A GOD YOU'RE A MAN AND IT WAS MY FATE TO DIE."
