Much To Learn About A Strange New Ally
The sun was barely above the horizon when yet again Vahlt burst into Liviors room and jumped on him waking him from a very nice and...personal dream as boys of that age often have. This did not leave Livior in a very good mood and he shoved Vhalt off the bed and yelled at him to get out. Vahlt looked hurt and confused as he slunk back out the door and closed it. Livior lay there calming himself for a few minutes and then began to feel guilty for the way he treated his brother. He got up got dressed today wearing Vahlts favorite color to help his chances at being forgiven for being a jerk, which was a deep green the color of magnolia leaves. He placed his crown on his head and his necklace around his neck and went out with the perfect apology gift he never thought he would part with but he knew would be safe with his brother. He walked up to the table and said good morning to everyone and saw a package sitting in front of his plate which made Livior instantly realize why Vahlt was so excited. He turned away from it and toward Vahlt and said "I'm really sorry Vahlt I didn't mean to snap at you it's just...I was really enjoying the dream I was having when you woke me up."
Liviors ears had almost turned purple when he said it. Vahlt and his father knew what he meant right away and were smirking so badly Livior knew they were on the verge of laughing hysterically. Then Vahlt said "I forgive you, I would be mad too I suppose." Vahlt noticed what Livior had in his hand and asked "Why do you have that with you? You don't need it anymore."
Livior lifted Kents broadsword and presented to Vahlt saying "I want you to have it. If I am not to use it anymore I want it to be put to use keeping my brother safe."
Tears welled up in Vahlts eyes because he knew this was all Livior had of his father aside from the ring he always wore around his neck on the vine necklace his mother Meauv gave him the night his birth parents died. He jumped out of his seat and wrapped his arms around Livior as tightly as he could, thanking him repeatedly. Livior finally broke apart from him laughing and made sure Vahlt promised to keep it clean and sharp and to take care of it to which Vahlt swore on his honor. Then Livior sat in his seat and everyone watched him waiting for him to open it. The package was roughly five feet long and only about six inches across and equally tall. He opened the box expecting to find a massive sword he world barely be able to wield and then he saw it.....a staff...a beautiful staff but a staff nonetheless.
The staff was made of Cedar with a metal handle at the center that looked like a sword hilt made of silver and gold. At the top was what looked like the end to a very small crossbow with a hole in the center of the top of the staff. The top and bottom halves past the crossbow shaped head of the staff was designed to look like layers had been draped over the existing wood. The layers went all the way from the top to the bottom of the staff. On the bottom Vahlt noticed what looked to be a sort of trapped door that they could not figure out how to open. The staff seemed to glow whenever Livior touched it but when he handed it to anyone else it stopped and just appeared to be a normal staff.
After examining it for several more minutes Livior tossed it on the nearby sofa and said "Of all the weapons he could have made me, he makes me a staff which I don't even want to learn to use. It's too risky to leave enemies alive on the battlefield, that much is common sense."
Vahlt hesitantly but with a bit of an impish grin said "But...it's a really pretty staff."
To which Livior lunged after him but Vahlt had already bolted away from him. Livior chased Vahlt until he caught him and pinned him to the ground and said "A really pretty staff eh? Let's see what it can do!"
He then began wracking Vahlt in the head with it until Vahlt yelled laughingly "OK, OK I YIELD!"
Livior and Vahlt were both laughing when they got up although Vahlt was rubbing his head where Livior kept hitting him with his new staff. As they got back to the table Shriv said "Not so useless a weapon after all eh?!"
