Victory or Death

Liviors heart was racing at the sound of the approaching army. Even from a mile away he could already smell the trolls which nauseated him. He quickly tore a piece of his tunic off and used it to cover his mouth and nose after dumping it into a vat he made of light scented lilac water. It helped but he knew up close it would be almost worthless. He caught King Jons attention and asked it he minded if Livior had a word with his remaining troops which King Jon did not because he thought they could use all the morale boosting they could get after days of constant attack watching their comrades die.

Livior walked up in front of them and walked among their ranks looking them over. Then he said for all to hear "As my people know I have brought my mother back from the dead and she stands on the walls on the northeast corner. I have that power and I want you all to hear me now! You have survived this long at impossible odds so I say this to you. You will NOT die! If you die I will bring you back just to kill you again for that crime. You are my cousins and my family will not die at the hands of these slaves to Norvell. Have I made myself clear?!"

The soldiers all replied "YES SIR!"

"Your king, King Jon does not want you to die for him, he wants you to LIVE for him and kill as many of these invaders as you can! This siege will end today one way or the other and I intend to win! Now go and protect your king from any harm!"

The soldiers formed a solid wall around Jon and stepped as he did, stopping in front of the gates waiting for their signal.

Livior went up to the top of the wall and looked out standing next to the crates of arrows that lay next to Shriv and saw ten thousand approaching from the south. Well he thought I knew this was not going to be easy but we have a few surprises in store for them. He squeezed his fathers shoulder who returned the gesture then went back down to the courtyard to meet up with his mages and soldiers that would be accompanying him. Then Livior said to his men "When you see the archers start firing we teleport south to the tree line to the south. We will sneak up behind them as long as we can go unnoticed and begin our counterattack."

Five minutes later Livior saw his mother make the first shot and the necromancer with her begin chanting. She shot five more arrows consecutively. Then his father began and his necromancer companion began chanting, then Vahlt. Then Livior said "NOW!"

With that Troyth flew up into the air in his shining new armor and began spraying fire across the middle of the invading army flying straight in a line through the center of their army incinerating hundreds as he made his way toward their camp. When he passed their camp Troyth let out a blast of fire straight into the air and thirty dragons rose up from the surrounding countryside and began their flight toward the battle. At the same time Liviors portal makers in his group created the portal for them to step through. They stepped through as quickly yet quietly as they could. Once all were through the portal Livior had his men stay hidden in the tree lines. Suddenly Livior heard what he was waiting for, screams from the defenders left to guard the enemy camp. Livior was going to hold position until he saw Troyth return to the battle to keep from being seen by any who heard the commotion at their camp.

After about ten minutes Livior saw Troyth fly overhead and Troyth said mentally to Livior "Their camp is no more friend Livior."

Livior responded quickly "Thank you my friend."

By this point all thirty of the dragons were making fast strafing runs across the enemy army and then flying out of range of enemy arrows and spears as quickly as they could. Livior knew now was the time to move while their attention was in the air and on the castle so they began their approach. The necromancers with him were already raising the dead created by the dragons attacks and were causing extra chaos within their ranks. Just then one of the dragons was hit and crashed down a short way ahead of Livior and his group with a badly shredded wing. When the enemy saw the dragon go down they headed toward it so Livior mentally contacted the dragon and asked it to come toward him and they would protect it while his healers repaired its wing. The dragon was by Liviors side in seconds and Livior had the healers begin while he and the rest of the group formed a perimeter around them.
