I must've second guessed myself a million times deciphering if I should even give her the time of day after what I had caught her and Steph doing.
It wasn't until I texted Steph to ask him what she could possibly have to talk about did I make my decision. He was adamant that I didn't meet with her but that only made me want to meet with her.
Although I was skeptical I was curious and my curiosity was far deeper than my skepticism. I stopped by the house when I knew Steph wasn't there and saw the kids.
I took them to the park then dinner before leaving them and heading to go see Vrai per usual Steph was already there.
"I hope you didn't go see her." He mumbled after greeting me.
"No. I was hoping not to see either of you for a while."
"Madison I already know you hate me. Anything good I always fuck up or lose."
I looked at the shell of a man I still loved so much and exhaled turning my focus to Vrai. She was so little and precious. I said a prayer in hopes that God would hear me beg for my little baby's life. She was the only thing that Steph and I physically shared. Everything else was tarnished.
For hours per usual we set observing and bonding with Vrai before parting ways. I wasn't sure of Steph's tactic but he was doing a fine job at making me feel sympathy for him. My mind kept running on everything he'd been through and how long he had been so strong for the both of us. But the other side of me wanted to know what Cindy had to reveal.
After I had told my mom she took it upon herself to tell Steph's mom. Who insisted that she go along with me just to ensure nothing happened again between the two of us. As frustrated as I was I agreed.
After some time I reached out to Cindy and told her that we could meet.
She set up for us to meet at noon, at the Starbucks. I didn't care to tell her that Steph's mother was coming the less she knew the better. She wasn't to be trusted anyhow, there's no telling what she had planned, so I packed my pistol in the purse I was carrying.
"Remember to just be calm, you've been under enough of stress. I honestly don't think this is a good idea. Cindy's sweet but she can be a trouble maker sometimes." Mrs.Lorri went on to say as we pulled into the parking lot.
I assured Mrs.Lorri I would be. The only reason things went left last time was because of what I saw, any sane woman would agree more could have happened.
We both exited the vehicle and started for the shop which was a short distance. Starbucks had a medium size crowd so it wasn't that difficult to spot Cindy even though it was the back of her, we arrived to the small booth in the back where she was sitting going through her phone while sipping an iced coffee unaware of our presence until Mrs.lorri took the initiative to speak up sliding into the booth.
"Hello cindy sweet girl." She greeted softly. And the minute Cindy laid eyes on her it was clear her demeanor changed. I picked up immediately on the discomfort in the room. it was totally different from being surprised. Cindy's eyes floated directly to me.
"I thought we were meeting alone. —no disrespect Mrs.Lorri." Said Cindy.
I took a seat across from her. Knowing this was a shocker but hell I didn't feel bad at all. What did she expect! I didn't trust her ass. Damn what she thought.
"I thought I'd come to be a mediator." Mrs.lorri spoke up.
Cindy's face scrounged up rolling her eyes.
"We are adults Lorri we don't need you as a mediator. What happened—happened between us and your son. If anything he should be the one here."
