Against my better judgement I spoke with Cindy behind Steph's back and decided to invite her over.
Besides, Gigi needed her and she was overjoyed to know she would be spending the day with her.
Cindy showed up right on time, literally not even a minute late. 1pm on the dot and she brought Gigi cupcakes and balloons like it was her birthday.
"Where's this new baby, I'm dying to see her!" Cindy squealed.
"Cindy, let's talk for a sec, on the patio." I voiced realizing I was bringing her into this thing fully blinded. Neither her or Steph knew they'd be in the same place at the same time.
Every since things happened Steph made it his business to only talk to her when it concerned the club and they worked opposite shifts. Suddenly I felt guilty.
As we made it out back away from the full house, Cindy's face changed.
"Let me guess." Were her first words.
"Guess what?"
"You invited me over without Steph having a clue. I kind of figured that already. I mean what's the worse that can happen."
"Cindy, you're absolutely correct. The way I see it, he can't put you out. Not after seeing how happy Gigi is, today is the day we put things to the side."
"Well I'm gonna go upstairs with Gigi, wash my hands, see the baby Vrai, and hope there isn't an explosion down stairs when he gets here."
I had probably gotten in over my head, but we were leaving in a few days and we needed to leave on good terms. Anything could happen.
Ms.Youlus was in the kitchen cooking, per usual.
"I don't know what I'd do without you Ms.Youlus."
"No I don't know what I'd do without you." She reiterated with a genuine smile.
"Hmm, you think I'm go be in trouble?"
She smirked and shook her head relentlessly, "I think that man Gone come home from a long night of working and damn there wanna kill you, but you gone survive because what you are doing is for the best, he gone realize it and you gone be alright, plus I won't letem kill you."
I sure hoped she was right. All I could think about it his reaction for the next hour.
Cindy was having the time of her life and so was Gigi, it was true Gigi saw Cindy as a mother figure and in a healthy way, I found myself a bit jealous. It was something I was going to respect because I loved to see her happy and she had lost a lot. But I couldn't help but think, I wasn't being enough for Gigi. I wasn't filling that void she needed filled so much.
Steph had done a great job with my kids, I was second guessing my focus this last few years. It was in the wrong direction. I should've been bonding more with Gigi. Cindy brought an entire kit and did her and Gigi's nails.
I found out she was a jack of all trades really! She went to school for cosmetology and nail tech. But yet, she still had something missing.
I decided to kill time with Vrai, binding with my baby who was growing so much each day! I could barely keep up and here I was about to leave her. Depression was settling in hard.
Steph's arrival disheveled my thoughts though. I could hear him downstairs talking to Mrs.Youlus.
I figure bringing Vrai would soften his anger, so I met him at the bottom of the stairs and the look on his face said it all.
