Chapter 9

Xiu Min sipped the cold mango smoothie before looking back at Luhan.

"So, how long have you been in Korea?"

"Hmm, I come back here once a week, maybe two."

Xiu Min sighed, meeting eye to eye with Luhan.

"Okay. Now, explain. Why are you doing this to me?"

I immediately raised my head, slowly turning towards Xiu Min. He sounded weird.

No, he sounded mad. For the first time in forever, he sounded very, very upset.

But that is not the weird part. The weird part is, in the middle of him sounding upset, he sounded shaky. Like, he wanted to burst out crying. I kept my eyes long on him. His indescribable face.

How in the midst of all this anger, can such a pure heart shine through?

"Xiu Min, you must hear me out first..."

"Please, tell me everything." Xiu Min said, and I saw how he hid his fist underneath the table. I saw how his lips became shaky when he uttered every word. I saw it and I think it's quite a gift. I recognize a pure hearted person anytime I see one.

And Xiu Min, is one of them. The pure hearted people.

"Make sure it's worth it. Please let it be worth it." He added.

Luhan kept his calm expression and lets out a deep sigh. He bit his lips for a few seconds, looking like he was thinking of something very important. I stayed silent. It was between my client and requester, so it wasn't my job to interfere. I'm only here because Luhan asked me to.

"Okay. I hope you are ready to hear this."

Xiu Min didn't respond.

"First thing is first. I'll tell you since when I knew about this. It was after Kris hyung left EXO." Luhan started, his eyes fell down to his own plate of noodles.

"You knew how he left that day, right? How he suddenly disappeared and the next thing you know, SM announced that he was officially out? That he left us?"

Xiu Min nodded, plastering a calm expression. "Soon after that, you left us too."

Luhan furrowed his brows, baffled.

"I know. I know you guys still don't accept this, and I know you, especially you, Kim Min Seok will not forgive me for that, but at least let me explain things. At least even if I go, you'll know why."

Both of them shot each other serious gazes and I had to pretend I wasn't listening.

Hey, I'm no EXO fan or whatever the fandom name is, but what I know is, or what I can figure out is- these two were close. From the way they talked, I could see how much they were trying to hold back their tears.

"On the day Kris left, he met me. He gave me one last warning. He told me that even if he leaves, they will find someone else. Before he could explain what it meant, he ran. He ran hard enough to make me wonder every night in my sleep whether it was real. If he really did left. What did he meant by they and what did they do to him? After a few months, while I was still there, I finally understood what he meant." Luhan's tone went from calm to terrified. His face turned cold as he gulped nervously. It took him a few good seconds of his dark orbs shaking in fear as he figured out what to say.

"Two weeks before I left, I was alone in the practice room. You guys were already gone to the agency party. It was midnight, and I was just about to leave when a staff came up to me. He said something I couldn't understand, and the next thing I know I went unconscious. When I woke up, I was in the basement floor of the agency. I was tied to a chair; my legs, arms, body and my neck. Even my mouth was gagged."
