Promises. Nothing but lies and empty words. They cause nothing but heartache and pain.
I unfortunately can say that I know what that's like. Which is why I push everyone and everything away.
I'm scared, It's too painful to go through that again. It all happened because of one boy. Jack.
He broke his promise. The one promise he vowed to never break.
So I guess I should start from the beginning in order for it all to make sense.
My name is Elena, I'm 17 years old and currently living in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm on summer break and about to start my senior year in high school.
I have waist length dirty blonde hair, and piercing green eyes.
I moved to Omaha a few months ago but before that, my life was in California. I lived there for about 3 years on my own since my parents decided that I needed to start my life already.
They both agreed and helped me move out, so I decided that I needed a fresh start and just get away from Florida.
I had always been an independent girl so it wasn't that hard to adjust in Cali.
I had found an apartment in Los Angeles and a part time job as a waitress at "Jenn's Diner".
That's where me and Jack met. He would go there everyday at the same time.
As time passed we got to know each other better.
I learned that Jack was originally from Omaha but came to California to get into a good college and decided to finish his last year in Los Angeles.
It was a bittersweet moment because I knew Jack was anything but a committed guy but that all changed when he met me.
He was the first person I talked to when I first moved to California. Soon enough we became closer and closer and before you knew it we were inseparable.
We went out for almost 2 years. We would always talk about our future together.
If I would've known that he was gonna put me through so much heartache I never would've fallen for him.
But in the end no matter how many times I try to convince myself to believe that lie, I know there is no way I could've stopped myself from falling for Jack Gilinsky.
Later that year it was the day I had been anticipating. I was more than happy to still be in love with my best friend after 2 years.
It was our 2 year anniversary but it was also the day my heart broke and the worst part is, I remember it like it happened yesterday.
««Flashback»»
Jack had picked me up that night and went to a park for a romantic picnic. I was wearing a simple outfit, a back laced cropped top and a white high waisted skirt with knee socks and my black and white converse.
I had semi curled hair and light makeup on. Jack was wearing a simple button down baby blue shirt, which made his brown eyes pop and black jeans with grey vans and his hair was neatly spiked up like usual.
It was simple yet he's never looked better. I greeted him with a soft peck and we left.
The car ride was silent, but you could sense the tension. He had been acting weird since the minute he picked me up from my house but I decided to brush it off.
After about 20 minutes of driving in silence we arrived at the park. Everything was already set up and I was breathless.
I turned around to find Jack already staring at me with a grin on his face and his hands in his pockets. I looked down and started blushing.
