After fifteen minutes of an awkward atmosphere, we finally arrived at the venue, where the dance was being held.
A wave of relief washed over me as I tumbled out of the car, thanking the heavens I didn't trip.
If there is a god, he had it out for me. First, my date stood me up, only to find myself interrupting Jack and Leigh's disturbing moment.
Yup sounds about right. I mean its me, nothing ever works out.
I just wanted to hug Jack and feel his arms wrapped around me, telling me that it was all just my imagination and that he still loves me.
But this isn't a fairytale and my life isn't a walking cliché. This is the cold hard reality.
As I was walking towards the double doors of the ballroom, I was slightly pulled back by someone grabbing my arm.
Expecting it to be ally, I smiled a bit knowing she'd eventually come around. We could only be mad at each other for so long.
When I turned around my smile left about as quickly as it came. I did not want to talk to him. I jerked my arm away and turned around not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry over him.
"Go away Gilinsky, I don't wanna talk to you."
I was once again pulled back lightly but by two firm hands gripping my waist. I tried to ignore the butterflies that were forming in my stomach and kept an annoyed look.
"Lena please listen. Give me a chance to explain."
He reached up to wipe away the tears that had started running down my face without permission. I didn't want him to explain, I think I'd rather pass on TMI between him and Leigh.
"No Jack I don't even care anymore, its your life. And don't call me that anymore, you have no right."
My voice came out as a hoarse whisper, it sounded like I've been crying for 5 hours straight. Before he could say anything, I gently moved his hand away from my cheek and made my way inside in hopes of finding David.
I took one last glance back and saw Jack standing there with tears forming in his eyes and his shoulders hunched over.
I made my way towards the decorated double doors, ignoring every ounce of my will to run back into his arms.
When I made my way into the ballroom, conversations immediately stopped and all eyes were on me. I self consciously lifted my hand and began touching my face to make sure I didn't have anything there.
Why are they all staring at me?
"I don't blame them, you look beautiful."
I was shocked to see Jack standing behind me with his hands in his pockets. He can't take a hint can he? Even though I was mad at him, I couldn't help but blush at his comment.
"Thanks," I muttered.
Damn it Elena stop it. You look like a school girl, blushing over a compliment.
After a few star struck minutes, every one eventually went back to doing their own thing. I walked to my assigned table which also consisted of Ally, Johnson, Jack, David, and Leigh.
Great, talk about an awkward situation.
I saw my name tag with my name written in perfect cursive.
Elena Davis
I pulled out my chair and sat down while putting my purse in the chair next to me, which was Gilinsky's chair.
