NATALIE D'ANGELO

after new year's eve i never spoke to mike or really anybody besides dustin, christie and steve. it was just like before.

i didn't mind this time though, steve and dustin were always over so i was never really truly alone and during school i hung with dustin and sometimes i would be alone and just chill.

being alone didn't bother me really, not anymore at least.

the months passed and so did other quote unquote holidays. valentine's day, easter, and other small little ones.

christie and i spent all of them with dustin and steve doing various activities that made us closer than we already were.

my eight grade year has gone by in a blink of an eye.

now, dustin and i sit next to each other in the bleachers. it's the day of christie and steve's big graduation and a few days before dustin leaves to go to summer camp.

"i'm not going to lie, i am surprised they actually made it" dustin leans over to whisper to me. i nod in agreement. "yep, they're both incredibly stupid" i say back to him.

he chuckles and i do too

"christina d'angelo" the principal calls christie's name. dustin and i stand up as christie walks across the long stage. "christieeeee" i yell, standing up and applauding.

"yeah christie!" dustin yells from beside me. everyone around us, clapping and laughing as dustin and i embarrass her. steve whoops in the crowd of students, "that's my best friend!"

his loud voice is followed by a look from christie.

she is going to beat our asses after the ceremony is over i just know it.

she gets her diploma and whatever other things they hand to her and she walks off the stage. we wait and wait for steve's name to be called. it's a monumental moment.

the time goes by slow, it feels like forever before a recognizable name is called. "billy hargrove"

i look up and watch as he walks across the stage, a cocky look plastered on his chiseled face. i look around the crowd and see max sitting with her mother and stepfather.

she must've felt my eyes on her because she turns around to look back at me. i smile and wave. she returns the action before turning back around.
