chapter 7: it was one of a kind

" Tess guess what" I said as I entered into the hostel,

"What is it?" She asked writing a note

" Are you still working in that article?"

" Yes o, you know its two thousand words, you know Mrs nwaka, if your essay doesn't make sense she won't only punish you, you'll also cut grass and be her messenger for a week and me I'm not ready for that one"

This was an English assignment, but it was specifically given to art students, we all had submitted it when it was first given, and Mrs nwaka had been furious that the science and commercial students did better in the essay, so she gave the art students another one, even harder than the first. I pitied them, thank God I was not in art class, although Amina is, I'm not sure she is even trying to attempt hers.

" I got invited to a party" I said happily

" And?" She said suddenly interested

" And it's Toke Afolabi's birthday party na" I said as amina enters the hostel

" Did you just mention Toke's birthday" she squealed

" Yes" I replied her a little to excited as Tessa rolls her eyes

" Uche just invited me" Amina said smiling

" That's amazing, Toke herself invited me" I said as amina stands up shocked

" Swear!"

" I swear, like it was so unexpected" I said

"Abeg y'all should stop swearing up and down you got invited to a party and so?" Tessa complained green with envy.

Amina laughed saying " see them, jealousy, like say you no won go"

" Go where, mtcheew like I care" she said standing up and walking out if the room a bit too angry.

Amina looked and me and asks " what's wrong with her?", I looked at her raising my shoulders with my hands slightly raised showing I had no idea.

Probably Tessa was on her period, maybe that's why she's so cranky, I was too excited to be worried about that, as I've always dreamt of this moment,  I join amina as she helps me in selecting  amazing dresses for the party.

I later talked to Tessa and she told me not to go that she was not feeling good about that party, and that amina is a lot different from me , she was partially part of the popular girls while I'm just unknown. She said it in a way that seemed like she also saw me as boring and lame. It made me feel like reconsidering, what if she was right?.

I had decided to cancel, it's better I just stayed at home that night and keep my boredom to my self, I walked to the woman who sold  soft drinks, I was buying one when someone else offers to pay, turned out to be farian.

"Hey" I said

"Hey" he replies me smiling

"Thanks tho for the drink" I said

" Go with me to Toke's party on Saturday night" he said quickly but I grabbed all of it.

" Are you asking me-" he cut me off

" Yes I'm asking you to go with me to toke's party, as my date" he said

" Why are you doing this farian" I asked, I had to be sure this guy isn't toying with my feelings

" Because I like you very much blessing, so please don't turn me down and please say yes" he said

That sounded like he was asking me to be his girlfriend, okay I'm going too far, I knew what exactly he was asking about
