Entry 6 (Calum)
It has been two hours since I last saw Stephanie. Such a long time, I know, but I'm really worried. What are they doing to do? How are they going to save her? Is she going to be okay?
I'm currently pacing back and forth in the waiting room. Avery, Michael, and Luna are on one side of me, and Izzy, Ashton, and Luke are on the other side. "Ash, she's going to be okay. These doctors have probably done overdose treatments thousands of times." Michael tries to reassure me.
"Yeah, and all of those thousands of other patients had someone worrying about them."
"Calum, look at this." Luna says. She's reading some book. I walk over and look at what she's reading.
"Stephanie's journal." I say. She nods and gives me a guilty smile.
"I found it in her bedroom. I know I shouldn't be reading it, but I just wanted to know why she would try to kill herself."
"The first time she tried it, she thought she was a waist of space, a fuck up."
"Yeah, I've noticed her changing, though. It's been a small amount of time, but she has been happier. Plus, she just wrote this yesterday. 'I think I'll be okay in a short amount of time.' and, 'My friends are doing a great time.' She talked about how you, Calum, are really helping her. She was happy yesterday. Why would she want to commit suicide today? What happened?"
"Cal, were you with her at all yesterday? You knew she was in her room." Luke asks.
"Yeah, we went to lunch earlier today. She went to get the food, and then she just ran out."
"She just ran out?"
"Yeah. Just like that."
"I feel like a detective. This is fun," Michael says with a smile, "Anything else that was weird?"
"Um, yeah. Someone yelled, 'I hate you' at her as she ran."
"Who was it?"
"Uh, middle-aged man, old enough to be her father, he was probably-" Luna starts choking on the water she was drinking.
"Luna? You okay?"
"Old enough to be her father?" She asks with wide eyes.
"Um, yes?"
"What did he look like?"
"He was about 6 foot. Graying hair, beard, bear gut. Why?"
"Oh God. No, no, no, dear God, no."
"What, Luna? What's going on? Who was he?"
"He was her father, Calum. The one that beat her? She ran into him in that restaurant, it brought back memories, he started yelling at her, she needed to get away, suicide was her first resource. That's why she overdosed."
"That was her father?" I ask.
"Yes, Calum. That was her father. And he-"
"Yeah, I know he abused her. Wasn't he sent to jail?"
"Nope. She never pressed charges when she turned eighteen. She wasn't stable enough. Emotionally and financially. She couldn't pay for a lawyer, and she couldn't stand to face him. So she just let him go."
"But her mother? She also overdosed, didn't she? Her suicide note said so. Went she was dead, nobody thought to mention the note?"
"Steph wanted to, but her father threatened her that if she mentioned it, he would kill her. She was supposed to go to her uncles, but her dad called that off."
"Wow. That explains everything, doesn't it?" I say. I'm totally overwhelmed by all this information. I knew her father abused her, and her mother also overdosed, but not about her uncle. Or her death threat. I didn't know about her not pressing charges, I just assumed he was locked up.
"Pretty much." Izzy says.
"She should have pressed charges. She wouldn't be here right now." Luke says.
"Yeah, maybe. She'd probably feel better knowing he's away from her." Ashton agrees.
"Well, she didn't. So, let's not talk about what Stephanie should have done, and instead talk about what will happen."
"Easy; she's going to wake up all fine and okay, I'll help her recover, then she'll fall in love with me and we'll have a destination wedding. Then we'll get two dogs and we'll have three kids." I say. Luna glares at me.
"Calum, please, your girlfriend is in that hospital room. Be serious for two minutes." She scolds me.
She's like the mother of the group. Always scolding us and shit.
"I am! When she wakes up, she'll fall in love with me. It's happening."
"Or, she could be seriously scarred, they might not be able to save her, she could, I don't know, want to leave us and start completely over with a new life!"
Mothers also tend to worry overly serious.
"Luna, baby, please. Yes, she may die, and yes, she could lock herself in a room until she's over this or until Calum sweeps her off her feet. But in no way will she leave us." Michael says, trying to calm Luna.
Boyfriend duties.
"Okay, what about the dying and scarred part?"
"Well, these doctors had to go through at least eight years of school. People overdose all the time, trust them to do this. And the scarred part? That's why Calum is here, isn't it? He will jump in and make her realize that she has so much to live for. Everything will be okay, I promise."
Oh, dear Michael, you shouldn't have said those two words. Promises are dangerous. Especially when it comes to something you have no control over. Didn't your mother teach you anything? Don't ever make a promise you can't keep. It will find you, and you'll be hit right in the ass.
Especially when the nurse comes out with a solum expression on her face. She says eleven words that will make your promise crumble to the ground.
"I'm so sorry, but Stephanie has been knocked into a coma."
A/N: whatttttt.
Yeah I went there.
No she won't get amnesia..
That'd be bad.
She's got a method of killing. Pulling in like you're gonna start kissing.
UPDATE! I have a science test tomorrow. ew.
Hope you enjoyed! See you next update!
