Kaminari closed his bedroom door and leaned his head back against the cool wood with a groan. How in the world was he supposed to explain what happened?

He nearly shrieked when he heard a noise come from his bed and his eyes flew open, hands flung out defensively.

"You should know better than to sneak up on a hero course student! My whole life just flashed before my eyes, I think I saw the grim reaper."

Shinsou was reclining on his bed, tossing Kaminari's Pikachu stress ball up into the air and catching it with one hand while the other rested behind his head. Well, that wasn't a fake calm scenario at all.

"Dude, I could have shocked you!" He said in an effort to make him look at him.

But Shinsou still didn't answer, just threw the ball again. Kaminari tapped his fingers against his leg in agitation. He was pretty sure the stress ball was having the opposite effect on him as he watched it fly in the air and drop back into his hand.

Shinsou completely ignored what he said when he finally replied saying, "Your English notes, you left them on your desk."

Kaminari had no idea what that had to do with anything and stared back at him blankly while he continued to stare at the ceiling.

He threw the ball one last time and let it hit the bed and drop to the floor. It rolled to stop in front of Kaminari's feet.

He bent down and picked it up, giving it a squeeze as he did. He was thankful to have something to fiddle with because he was sure he'd say something stupid otherwise.

Shinsou sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. "You couldn't exactly lend Kirishima your notes if you didn't take them with you," Shinsou prompted.

Oh, that. Shit. He'd already forgotten his flimsy reason for leaving and obviously Shinsou saw right through it.

He was saved by saying anything when Shinsou spoke again. "Of all the people to get freaked out about my quirk, I didn't think you'd be one of them," he said as he finally looked at him.

Okay, ouch. Shinsou was the king of backhanded complements but it was totally deserved after the way he'd reacted.

The fight in him visibly deflated and Kaminari watched his shoulders sag. "I'm used to people looking at me like I'm the bad guy but I thought it'd be different with you. Is my quirk really that bad?" Shinsou asked in a flat voice.

"No!" Kaminari said in alarm as he realised just how much he'd messed up. "God, no. Shin, it wasn't that at all. Yeah I freaked out but it wasn't like that."

Shinsou stared back at him waiting for an explanation and the look on his face made Kaminari squirm.

"Ah, so, uh, your quirk might have been a little too much for me," he squeaked out but when Shinsou's eyes dropped to the floor and he nodded in understanding, Kaminari knew he had to tell the truth. He was going to kill Kirishima if this went badly.

"Yourquirkgavemeaboner," he said too quickly and far too embarrassingly.

Shinsou's head snapped up and Kaminari could pinpoint the exact second that his words registered because his eyebrows shot up toward his hairline and his eyes rounded in disbelief while a bright shade of red slowly made its way from his collarbones to his ears.

Kaminari squeezed the ever loving shit out of the stress ball but it didn't help as he hurried to try and reassure him. "It's not you, I just got a spontaneous boner, maybe it's a weird kink I might have, maybe I'm just a teenager, I don't know. Your quirk is great. I love your quirk. Obviously. I mean, I'm not attracted to you, it doesn't have to be weird. Just a dude accidentally randomly getting turned on by his bro's quirk."

Well he'd certainly made a fucking mess of that. Saying the first thing that popped into his head really was a talent. But the words were out there now and he couldn't take them back. He flicked his eyes to Shinsou and tried not to cringe. "Did I make it weird?"

Shinsou rubbed at the back of his neck seemingly trying to find the right words to say, a bright blush still painting his cheeks. "Uh, a little."

Kaminari couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up his throat at the admission and Shinsou joined him with his own huff of laughter, helping to get rid of some of the mortification.

"Let's never speak of it again, yeah?"

Shinsou looked back at him with the barest hint of pink still staining his cheeks but a sharp sort of smile had taken over his face. "I knew my quirk was hard to get out of but that's a new one."

Kaminari threw the stress ball at him with a grumbled, "I hate you."

After a minute, Kaminari came to sit on his bed next to him. "Hey. Seriously though, I shouldn't have run out like that. That wasn't cool and I wasn't thinking about how that would make you feel."

Shinsou nodded tightly but the tense set of his shoulders dropped. "Thank you. That," he cleared the tightness in his throat and tried again. "That means a lot to me."

Kaminari turned to look at him, their faces only inches apart because Shinsou was already looking at him. He reached to take Shinsou's hand comfortingly.

The other boy jolted a little at the contact but relaxed as Kaminari gave his hand a reassuring squeeze with both of his. Kaminari looked into his eyes and Shinsou could see the colours swirling like a storm cloud as the blond said, "Your quirk is awesome and I know you're gonna use it to do great things." He squeezed his hand again. "And anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot."

Shinsou scratched at the side of his neck with his free hand and looked down at his lap while a soft, bashful sort of smile flittered over his face.

Kaminari felt his heart swell at the knowledge that he was the one to put it there and only then remembered to let go of his hand.
