Charlie Bradbury hadn't seen the Winchesters or the angels since everything happened in California. That had been, what....a year and a half ago? All of what had happened had been pretty crazy, and Charlie figured it was better to just not think about it. Not the angels, not the demons...definitely not God. All of that was something she would just prefer to not think about.
Especially after Dean.
She would still think about him, sometimes. She kept the picture of her and him on the beach by her bed. He had been her best friend, the brother she had never had. Or known she wanted.
Somethings hurt too much to think about, so she preferred to not think about any of that. She was in college now, studying at the University of Oregon. She was a biology major, hoping to become a scientist of some sort. Her life had returned to normal. She still hung out with Kevin, Benny and Meg sometimes. But it had always been weird after Dean. Normal was good though. Normal was great, actually.
Until, of course, things stopped being normal.
She was brushing up on chemistry basics for her final exam tomorrow when there was a knock on the door to her dorm. Her roommate was out (like usual, probably partying) so she knew it wasn't the girl's weird boyfriend. She opened the door and was surprised to see a girl with curly brown hair standing at her door. She had on a tanktop and black jeans so tight they might as well have been painted on. She had a flower tattooed on her shoulder. She was hot. Very hot.
"Gilda? What the hell?" Charlie said, grabbing the demon girl and pulling her into her dorm. "What are you doing here?"
"Looking for you," Gilda said nonchalantly, looking the human up and down. If Charlie wasn't so confused, she would have been flattered. Getting checked out by a hot girl was always a good thing. Unless the hot girl was also a demon connected to....whatever had happened last year.
"Why are you looking for me?" Charlie asked. Gilda scowled at her.
"Because I need your help. I need to find the Winchesters," she said.
Dear God. Wait, that was a swear she had stopped using. She didn't like the idea of this Chuck guy listening to whatever thoughts followed God.
"Nope. No, no, no. I'm sorry, I'm just a normal human. I don't want anything to do with that shit," Charlie said.
"Look, I get it. I didn't want to involve you either. I tried to find them on my own, but I need you," Gilda argued. Charlie didn't like the sound of that. It must be important if Gilda cared this much...
"Why?" Charlie asked reluctantly.
"It's about Sam. I've heard from around that the demons might know where he is. And I need to find him and Michael before the demons do," Gilda said.
"Aren't the Novaks--sorry, angels, with them?" Charlie asked.
"They were. But I don't know now. Ever since they packed up and left thirteen months ago, I haven't heard a word. All I know is what Lucifer told me before that. That they had to move, to keep Sam safe. And that Castiel disappeared," Gilda said. Charlie felt like someone had stabbed her through the heart. She hadn't know about Castiel disappearing. He had to be so broken over Dean....she could only imagine.
"I....fuck. I'll help. What do you need me to do?" Charlie asked. She was surprised by the unbridled joy in the demon's face, and ignored the little flutter in her chest. Now is not the time Charlie. Sam. Think about Sam.
"I need you to trace a couple credit cards. I know their stupid aliases and such, so if you can help me find them, that would be great," Gilda explained. Charlie nodded and pulled out her laptop. "You don't need to do it now. I can see you're busy," the demon gestured at the textbooks. Charlie shrugged.
