Sam yawned and rolled over. He almost rolled directly onto the floor but Gabriel's wing caught him and lowered him gently onto the carpet. Sam poked his head over the edge of the bed and blinked at the angel. Gabriel was curled on his side, pouting at Sam. Sam ran a hand through his messy hair and rubbed his eyes.
"You look tired. Come back to bed, Moosey," Gabriel mumbled, patting the bed beside him.
"No, I've got to get up. We've still got to figure out a way to deal with the demons and angels," Sam said, climbing to his feet. Gabriel snapped his fingers and Sam felt like a giant invisible hand grabbed him and threw him back into the bed. Gabriel automatically practically laid on top of him and kissed his chin.
"That's more like it," Gabriel said. Sam sighed and ran a hand through the archangel's hair. He was almost asleep again when there was a knock on their door. "Go away!" Gabriel yelled through the door.
"Nah, I need to talk to you guys," Lucifer argued through the door. "If you don't open the door, I'll just mojo it open."
"It's unlocked you dufus," Gabriel grumbled. Lucifer sighed and opened the door, looking...happy. This immediately had Sam's attention, because happy was a rare emotion at the Winchester-Novak household. "Why do you look like that?" Gabriel asked, looking at his brother distrustfully.
"Uh...well, I sort of wanted to talk to you guys about something," Lucifer said, pulling up the chair from the desk in the corner. Gabriel and Sam both shoved each other in an attempt to sit up. Gabriel's wings kept getting in the way of Sam's spidery legs and arms which caused both of them to growl at the other. "I still don't know if you two love each other or hate each other."
"Both," Gabriel said as the finally managed to get comfortable. He retracted his wings so he could cuddle into Sam's side, and Sam wrapped an arm around him.
"Okay...so I was going to talk to you guys about this before, but well, after everything...." Lucifer trailed off and looked at them. "This is more for Sam. As I said, I wanted to ask before, but I...I still want your permission to marry Michael."
Sam wasn't sure who was more shocked, himself or Gabriel. Gabriel opened his mouth to speak but all that came out was a squeaky....something. If Sam had to guess, he would assume it was Enochian the angel was so surprised. Sam blinked at Lucifer, half-expecting the archangel to burst into laughter at their faces, but he looked genuinely concerned about what Sam was going to say.
"You," Sam started, but his voice came out a pitch higher than usual. He cleared his throat and tried again. "You want to get married. To Michael, my dad...." As soon as the word left his mouth, Sam slammed his hand over his mouth, turning bright red. This time Gabriel burst into laughter and Lucifer just sort of smiled. "Uncle. I meant uncle. You....you're gonna get married?" Sam said, attempting to turn the attention away from himself.
"You said 'dad'," Lucifer said. Sam blushed again.
"Well, Michael is the closest thing to a dad I've ever had," Sam admitted and Gabriel grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers. "So did you ask him already?"
"Yeah," Lucifer said and his turn to blush. "But if you aren't okay with it, that's totally cool. I want to make sure you and Dean..."
"Of course I'm good with it! This is so exciting honestly. He said yes, right?" Sam asked.
"Of course I said yes," Michael said, walking into the room. His hair was a complete mess and he was wearing one of Lucifer's T-shirts and a pair of sweatpants, holding a coffee mug. Sam looked to his left hand. On his ring finger, he had on what looked like a ring made of wood.
