Castiel was pouring himself a mug of coffee and watching Azazel and John out of the corner of his eye. The demon had some very peculiar conditions for his secrets. He asked that Castiel, obviously, not kill him. Castiel was willing to compromise here. Especially since the demon hadn't even asked to be freed. His other condition was very peculiar. He asked that Castiel not kill John Winchester. This had been a harder agreement, but Castiel had eventually accepted it. He chewed on his fingernail as he watched Azazel, considering what the demon had told him. He wondered what Gabriel and Lucifer would say about the plan. He had to wonder if his brothers would think Castiel was foolish. It didn't matter. He was going to do anything he could to get back Dean.

"Water," John Winchester choked out. Castiel glared at Azazel but brought John water. he wasn't going to let the man die. He might be on a murderous rampage, but he was a man of his word.

"What's your plan, kid?" Azazel asked Castiel. The angel shrugged. He didn't want to hear anything the demon had to say now that he knew how to get Dean back. He no longer was useful to Castiel.

"Doesn't matter. I have to go out. Don't do anything stupid," he said, half to John and half to Azazel. There wasn't much of a way for the demon to get out of his binds and the demon trap, but Castiel just wanted to make extra sure. He didn't need any mishaps.

Castiel wasn't entirely sure where he was going. All he knew was that he had to get out of that basement. The warm fall sun felt warm against his skin as he walked down the streets of Savannah, Georgia. He knew his brothers, Sam and Michael were standing in a town a couple hours away. He tried to keep close to them so that he could keep an eye on them. It was good they didn't know where he was though. Dean's death had been all his fault, and he couldn't risk losing anyone else.

He ended up at the church on accident. He wasn't exactly sure why that was where he chose to go, but that's where his feet had carried him. He stepped inside and into the cold dampness of the dark chapel. A Catholic church, old. He could tell as soon as he walked in. The priest was a young Hispanic man with a kind smile and a haunted smile. There were a few other people in the pews, saying prayers to an uncaring God.

Castiel sat down at one of the pews and stared at the artwork on the walls. He almost smiled when he saw a wall painting of Gabriel. They always got what he looked like wrong, and it always made Castiel giggle and Gabriel mutter swearwords. He looked up at the cross and sighed. What was he doing? Was he supposed to pray? Beg for forgiveness?

"May I sit?" the priest said in a soft voice with a light accent. "My name is Father Ortega (None of you are going to get this reference and it's going to make me cry). What's yours?"

"Cas," Castiel said. He figured his actual name would scare the man. Something in the priest's eyes said he had seen enough things that angels walking away men wouldn't be all that odd. (Since none of you are going to get this reference, this is the priest from The Exorcist, the TV show, which btw, is AMAZING).

"It's nice to meet you, Cas," the priest said.

"You as well, Father," Castiel mumbled, looking back at the cross. Anger flared in him as he looked back at the priest. There were so many people dedicating their lives to a cold and cruel God. There were so many people who prayed for miracles that would never come. He had been one of those people. After Dean, he had prayed night after night for his father to save him. But his prayers had gone unanswered.

"Your eyes say you are going through a lot," Father Ortega said.

"I lost someone very important to me," Castiel said in response. "And there are a lot of people to blame."

"Sometimes, things happen for a reason," the priest said. Castiel scoffed.

"Not this, Father. Not this," Castiel looked at the cross. "What should have happened, to the men who crucified Jesus?"
