Michael stood with one hand on the doorknob still, his heart all but stopping in his chest. The blonde man before him raised one eyebrow over his playful blue eyes, the corner of his mouth quirking up in a small smirk. He stared at him for a long second.
"Hey Mica," Lucifer said. Michael opened his mouth, but instead tears started to pour from his eyes and his legs gave out on him. Lucifer caught him and pulled him into a hug.
"You look older," Lucifer mumbled in his ear. "How long has it been?" Michael could barely think he was so overwhelmed. His hands were clinging onto Lucifer. This is real, this is real, this is real, he kept repeating in his mind, hoping that if he said it enough it would be true. It had to be true.
"Holy shit!" Gabriel yelled from the other side of the room. "LUCI?" It was real. This only made Michael cry harder. He suddenly lost his breath as someone tackled him from behind in a hug. From the height of said person, it was Gabriel, who was also crying. Soon it had morphed into a giant group hug full of crying people, but Michael didn't even notice anyone else. Lucifer was here. In his arms. Alive. After two and a half years of hell, his angel was here.
"Okay, Jesus Christ, give me some space," Lucifer said. Everyone let go of him. Michael attempted to move out of his arms, but Lucifer just wrapped his arms around him tighter. "Except you. I'm not letting you go," Lucifer mumbled into his hair, which had Michael bawling all over again.
"We're going to go outside," Dean said. "Give you two some space."
"And afterwards I'm going to talk to you Deano, about Cassie," Lucifer said. Michael winced as he realized how much Lucifer had missed. "And what the fuck are you wearing Adam?" Michael heard Adam chuckle.
"I'll explain everything to him," Michael said, still refusing to unwrap his arms from the archangel.
"Okay, see you soon," Gabriel said, hugging the two attached people one more time before leaving the room. Everyone followed and Lucifer shuffled them over to the couch. He sat down and Michael sat next to him, his head on Lucifer's chest, arms wrapped around his waist still.
"If I would have known dying was it all it would take to get you to show some PDA, I would have died a long time ago," Lucifer joked. Michael held back a fresh wave of tears.
"Luce, it has been a long time," Michael said, shifting so he could press his lips to the angel's cheek. Lucifer turned so he could kiss his lips. Michael grabbed the angel's face and enjoyed the kiss like he was never going to get another one. He couldn't help but cry even more. Eventually Lucifer pulled away and Michael buried his face in Lucifer's neck.
"How long is a long time, Mica?" Lucifer asked quietly, almost as if he was afraid to hear the answer.
"Two and a half years," Michael whispered into his skin. Chuck, how he had missed that scent. Wood, coffee, and oranges. He still smelled the exact same.
"I am so sorry," Lucifer mumbled, stroking Michael's hair. "I didn't know."
"What happened? Why are you back?" Michael asked.
"I don't honestly know. All I know is one second I was..I was in the living room of our place in Georgia getting stabbed by Raphael, and the next thing I know I'm waking up in the backyard and Dad is there..." Lucifer started.
"Wait...like, Chuck, Dad?" Michael asked, looking up at Lucifer. The archangel nodded.
"Yeah, like that one," Lucifer said. "He...he told me that he was sorry that he let me down so many times and he handed me this." Lucifer held up Michael's engagement ring. He grabbed it from Lucifer's hand and slipped it back on his fingers.
"I lost it the other day making a cake for Dean's birthday..." Michael said.
"I used my grace to make it. I think...I think that's what Dad used to remake me," Lucifer said. "You didn't get rid of it?"
"No. I tried. But I couldn't. I just...I couldn't let you go. I tried so fucking hard to move on..." Michael half-laughed, half-sobbed. "I thought I was going to have to spend the rest of my life without you."
"I know. I'm so sorry for that, Mica. I'm so sorry," Lucifer said, pulling him to his lips. Michael's hands slid over his chest, eager to relearn every inch of Lucifer.
"I missed you so much," Michael mumbled against his lips.
"I missed you too," Lucifer said.
"You don't remember any of the past two years," Michael said with a laugh in between kisses.
"Yeah, that's why I missed you," Lucifer teased back. "Although you know what this means? This means that I'm a born-again virgin. Literally."
"We might just have to fix that," Michael said, not even bothering to wipe away the tears anymore.
"Speaking of virgins, why the fuck is Adam dressed like that?" Lucifer said. Michael couldn't hold back his laughter this time.
"He's in the army," Michael said, kissing Lucifer's neck.
"What? What about everyone else?" Lucifer asked, his hands creeping under Michael's shirt.
"Sam, Cas, Gabriel, and Dean are in college. Dean and Gabriel are graduating next year. And Alfie is a senior in high school," Michael said.
"And what about you?" Lucifer asked. Michael laughed against his skin.
"What about me? I work at the lumber yard. I hunt sometimes, if Bobby needs someone experienced. I missed you every day," Michael said.
"No guys?" Michael asked.
"No. I tried. It didn't go well. I just couldn't," Michael said.
"Dean and Castiel are back togthere?" Lucifer asked.
"Dean is thinking of asking Castiel to marry him on this..." Michael started. "Oh fuck. We're going to miss our flight."
"Flight?" Lucifer asked.
"We're suppsoed to go on a family vacation," Michael said, climbing off the couch and offering a hand to Lucifer. Lucifer took it and let Michael pull him off the couch. "It'll be fun. Drinks, hotel rooms....sex on the beach?"
"You sure know how to get to my heart, Michael Winchester," Lucifer said, pulling him into another kiss. "I'm proud of you. For taking care of everyone. For being so fucking perfect."
"I'm just glad you came back to me," Michael said.
"What did I tell you, Mica? You can't get rid of me that easily. Now let's go so I can lose my virginity," Lucifer said as he walked out onto the porch. Michael turned red.
