Your POV:

"Eh, Sonohara-san you're going to meet Ryuugamine-kun later?"

"Yes, we've arranged to meet up and bring a junior around town."

"Hehh, I see..."

Licking my lips, my hands continued to carefully brush through the girl's silky hair with the comb in my hand, debating how I should phrase the pending question in my mind.

I closed my eyes and internally prayed: there was only one way of asking in the end no matter how I thought about it

"Is Kida-kun coming...by any chance?"

For a second, I could feel a strange sensation around us; a chill ran down my spine, and my movements instinctively halted, that feeling spreading down to my limbs.

"No, Kida-kun isn't coming."

Huh?

I opened my eyes, meeting the scene of Sonohara-san and Akane-chan staring back, the same puzzled looks on their faces.

"(y/n)-san, are you alright?"

"Ah..yeah! Sorry, I must have spaced out for a moment."

That feeling is gone...did I just imagine things because I've been overthinking too much? But, it still somehow feels weird...

I resumed the activity before me, gripping the plastic shaft of the comb steadily as I ran it through the last sections of Akane-chan's hair. The few locks of bed hair that initially stood out clumsily were now gone, and her hair was now prettily neat.

It must be nice having such pretty hair.

From my position I discreetly glanced back up, thankful the female was no longer looking in our direction, but at her courteously folded lap, quietly playing fumbling with her fingers with a reserved look.

Or, was it a troubled one?

It was like she wanted to desperately get something off her chest, to talk with someone about a certain matter. Was I reading too much into it?

Overthinking again?

But, that feeling from before....

And this time, I felt more confident about this feeling than anything else. It felt like I understood her, and I knew the dilemmas and conflict she might have been going through. More than anything else though, I understood well that distressed yet hopeful desire to tell someone.

It could be anyone at all.

I pushed Akane-chan's bangs out the way, delicately smoothing out the rest of her bobcut style, placing the small object on the table beside my resting figure.

Just anyone would would do.

So, I....

"Uhm-"

"Hey, Onee-chan?"

It could be anyone,

Just not someone with bad timing.

Normal POV:

"What's wrong?"

You tried to regain your stance, hurriedly snapping your head back to the little girl sat in front of you as fast as you could, attempting to conceal your previous actions from your other two companions. Though, you couldn't hide the natural flow of blood rushing into your cheeks, as well as the heated blush radiating from your features it had created.

So you could still feel embarrassment normally afterall.

Doing your best to mask your emotions of shame with an uncomfortable smile that had the intentions of coming off as friendly, you sweatdropped when the girl simply returned you awkward gaze with blank eyes.

You hoped neither Anri nor her had realized anything.

"How do you know Shizuo-onii-chan?"

For once, your wishful thinking had been granted and a potential plight of further embarrassment was avoided.

"How I know Shizu-chan..?"

Cocking your head to the side, you frowned unknowingly, taken aback by the unexpected question she had suddenly sprung onto you.

It was hard answering such a question, if you yourself didn't know the answer to it.

You pursed you lips, smiling nervously.

You couldn't very well explain the inappropriate and long details of your ever so mysterious backstory, especially since she was just a child. Plus, you hadn't told Anri anything either, and that would make things even worse.

"We're..."

You tried to speak, though the lack of words made it hard for you to do so. Somehow, you had to reply with something, something that was technically correct and would spare you from having to pour out your inexplicable tale.

Something....

Your eyes widened as you remembered his words, and the small tint remaining on your cheeks was no longer out of embarrassment, but rather, bashful joy that you found hard to admit for some reason.

"We're....friends. Shizu-chan and I."
