Normal POV:

"Hey, (y/n)-Chan?"

"Yes, Izaya-kun?"

"This is what we're watching?"

"Yep, The staff kindly recommended this when I asked for suggestions! They said it's really quite the thriller!"

Izaya's eyes continued to gaze forward at the glass panel before the both of you showcasing a promotional poster, his brown orbs scanning the frame up and down, seeming to be absorbed in doing so. You, on the other hand, tried your best to feign ignorance to his actions, trying as best as you could to retain your innocent act. Casually, you leaned forward with a curious smile, secretly focusing on his expression.

"What's wrong Izaya-kun? You don't like thrillers?"

In the middle of the poster in front of you, the title of the film was scribbled messily in a dark scarlet red color resembling blood, the words almost indecipherable due to how eerily misshapen the letters were.

'THE DEATHLY TERRORS OF THE MIDNIGHT HOUR'

That's right, you were going to use this 'date' as an opportunity to find Izaya's weakness.

Your POV:

He wasn't replying to my question, continuing to look solely ahead, his features formed in a neutral, almost serious manner.

Did he not hear me?

"Izaya-kun?"

I called out once more, this time inching nearer to his side just a bit more, hoping this would increase my chances for him to reply. Still, my attempt failed once more.

Is he overcome with shock over what we're watching? Maybe horror shows really are his weakness...

Just as I was about to reach out for his arm, he suddenly turned to face me without warning, startling me slightly from such abrupt movement. Though his eyes were now on me, he still had the same look from before, giving me the same unreadable, blank stare. Only now though, that our eyes were meeting, i noticed it was also piercing, like he could look right into my soul.

Did he realise what I was trying to do?

Slowly, I could see the corners of his lips raising up ever so slightly, into that undeniably sinister smirk he was capable of.

It wasn't the first time he had acted like this, but it still caused my frame to instinctively flinch and step back, lengthening the space between us before I had time to process anything. For a second, time seemed to stand still between us, neither of us moving as we simply returned each others gazes, quiet and unmoving. The silence was physically painful, and every moment more that passed made my insides cringe in discomfort.

"Sorry (y'n)-chan, I didn't hear what you were saying, what was it?"

Eh?

"Geez, now you're spacing out? You're so cute (y'n)-chan~"

He was now smiling back at me with the same grin I had unknowingly become used to, laughing amicably as if nothing had happened.

"E-Eh, ah l, sorry..."

Was it just my imagination? No way right?

"Come on, let's go get the food and drinks, the show will start soon!"

Why is he suddenly like that? I was totally prepared for something to happen like when I found Celty-san's head...

"Okay..."

Before I knew it I had become caught up in his flow, being unable to do anything but follow along. The words were echoing within me, though my lips wouldn't let me speak up for some reason.

Afterall, he's always bizarre...I Guess I should just get used to it already.

"Ah, also (y/n)-Chan?"

"Y-Yes?"

I had already started to regain my cool, though I still couldn't stop the small stutter that escaped when I opened my mouth to respond. He simply beamed, reaching for my hand smoothly with a secure hold, not even giving me the chance to reject his gesture.

"I almost forgot, about your question from before..."

Though I wasn't planning to anyway, at least I wasn't even focused on that.

"I don't particularly like or dislike it. 'Thriller' genres, that is."
